NUGU—INDEPENDENT National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Enugu State, has added a new dimension to the distribution of permanent voters cards, PVCs, by moving to various churches to locate owners of the cards yet to be collected. Vanguard gathered that the measure was adopted to let eligible voters yet to collect theirs do so without hassles.

Also, INEC held a stakeholders meeting in Enugu, yesterday, where the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Professor Chukwuemeka Onukaogu, gave a account of the level of preparedness before Saturday’s election. He said: “We have so far distributed 1,238,707, thus achieving 89 percent. We have 2,958 polling units and 3,361 voting points we are fully set.

“We have received non-sensitive materials, while the sensitive materials have arrived but housed in the Cen-tral Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

“Therefore, by Wednesday (yesterday) at 10 am we shall all go to CBN in company of security agents and party agents to take delivery and subsequent sharing.” On apprehension raised at the meeting over the use of card readers, he personally demonstrated how it works and the voting procedure. He, however, warned that “anybody coming with a cloned card will be arrested immediately it is ascertained that it is a clone card.”

If they like, let them take it to shrines and mosque to. When God rejected Saul (Jonathan) no amount of sacrifices (church campaign) was able to save him.

I stand for change. Transformation is not needed an again only change I want.

The Card reader and the heightened awareness that real time information from the internet/ social media has brought are real game changers in the governance of this country.

For the first time in this country, the citizens will be the ones to determine who gets elected.

All politicians in this country will have no choice but to sit up and deliver on their electoral promises..now that the peoples voice really matter and their votes count.

Before now, it was Godfathers and cabals using the machinery of political parties to out-rigg each other.
And so because deep down the "elected official" knows that it was not real votes that brought him in, he is not accountable to the people nor their interests. They are not his priority and he feels he is really doing the citizens a favour when God enters his mind to finally repair a vital but abandoned road after many pleadings by suffering citizens. Lagos- Ibadan, Benin- Ore roads are good examples.

If INEC and the people get this right, a clear message will be sent to all parties and would be contestants.

That

1.) If you have any skeleton in your cupboard, stay in your house or your yansh shall be opened for all to see.
This will go a long way in weeding out dubious characters and pave the way for credible individuals who before now avoid politics like leprosy... It is only in Nigeria that we say " politics is a dirty game"...it should not be the case.

2.)Political parties will realise that it is in their best intrreats to present only credible and untainted candidates to contest for primaries or else theywill stand no chance at the general elections...the Agbaje/ Obanikoro situation is a good example. The people will eventually be able to choose from the two or more equally good options.

3) If your candidate wins, you better give him close marking to ensure that he delivers or else he will get the " Jonathan " treatment...Governor Fashola captures this perfectly when he said " if you vote in Buhari and Prof Osinbajo and they do not perform...kindly vote them out". Thus the focus will be on delivering the real dividends of democracy to citizens instead of a struggle to go and eat their share of the national cake.

In conclusion the people are the real victors if these elections are properly conducted irrespective of which party wins.

Apart from technology, we must also applaud the doggedness and courage of Jega...He is a real hero of democracy .

For once I dare to believe that their is hope for Nigeria.

Transformation is when u used $2 billion to turn around a refinery. Change is when u can build new one with state of art technology with $2 billion.

I stand for Change.

No sane person will repair an old model amplifier with 60k when he can buy new one with 60k
