Yar’Adua’s daughter’s wedding: 3 VP’s aides die in auto crash

Three staff of Vice President Goodluck Jonathan perished in a fatal motor accident yesterday while on their way to Katsina for the wedding of President Umar Yar’Adua’s daughter.

The deceased are an assistant chief information officer, Mr. Brian Ata; a cameraman, Mr. Emmanuel Babarinde and a security operative, Mr. Thomas Adeyemi.

According to a statement by the senior special assistant to the vice president, Mr. Ima Niboro, the deceased died when the vehicle they were traveling in veered off the road and somersaulted in Charanchi town, near Katsina.

Six other officers in the bus sustained various degrees of injury and are said to be receiving treatment at the Katsina General Hospital in Katsina, while the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Katsina General Hospital mortuary.
Vice President Jonathan has expressed shock and sadness over the incident and has also condoled with the families of the deceased.
He prayed God to comfort them and grant repose to the souls of the departed.
