OVER AND DONE WITH | John 19: 30 (TM)

“After He (Jesus) took the wine, Jesus said, "It's done . . . complete." Bowing his head, he offered up his spirit"

As said yesterday, obviously, ‘Easter’ is annually celebrated to remind us of Jesus’ Death, Burial, Resurrection and Ascension - the most important reason why Jesus walked on the surface of the earth | See 1 Corinthians 15: 12 - 24.

John 19: 30 (KJV) reads thus “Then Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, “It is finished”: and He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost.

The word ‘Finished’ in John 19: 30 is ‘teleō’ (tel-eh'-o) In Greek. This implies - to end, that is, complete, execute, conclude, and discharge (a debt): - accomplish, make an end, expire, fill up, finish, go over, pay, perform, over and done with.

THIS, WE MUST KNOW: The Death, Burial, Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus Christ met the demand of Justice. Through His death, He accomplished the task. He paid all the debts of sin, not His but ours. He made an end to the enmity between ‘God and Man’ - He brought peace, setting men at one again with God. The Priesthood's era, standing in for God’s people, atoning for their sins using the blood of bulls and goats expired. Once and for all, Jesus paid with His own blood – Now, we can come boldly to the throne of Grace.

The case was concluded and we were discharged – no guilt consciousness again - It is ‘FINISHED’. The battle was won over. It wasn’t a ‘Half-Done-Job’, not even 99.9% accomplishment. Rather, it was an 'Over-And-Done-With-Task' – 100% task well accomplished and completed. He took our place and gave us His place’ | See Romans 4: 25 - 5: 1, 8: 1, Hebrews 7: 25 - 27, 9: 12, 1 Corinthians 5: 21, Hebrews 4: 16.


THE GOSPEL TRUTH: When we were stuck in our old sin-dead life, we were incapable of responding to God. God brought us alive — right along with Christ! Think of it! All sins forgiven! The slate wiped clean, that old arrest warrant canceled and nailed to Christ's Cross. He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets | Colossians 2: 13 – 15 (TM).

Dearly beloved, this is the significance of this season. Over 2000 years ago, Jesus accomplished all that with His blood. Our slate of sin’s records – (Past, Present and Future) ‘WIPED CLEAN’. That old arrest warrant of the devil against us canceled and nailed to Christ's Cross.

Jesus did not only stop there. He proceeded with stripping all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets - just for our sake. What a defeated devil and his regiment.

NOW: With the arrival of Jesus, the Messiah, that fateful dilemma is resolved. We are now discharged and acquitted. Our union with Jesus awards us that victory.

NOW, SAY | In Christ Jesus, I am discharged and acquitted.

LET’S PRAY | In the Name of Jesus, I walk in the realities of Jesus’ resurrection – AMEN!
