We know Shekau’s hideout, Boko Haram fears us more than Army – Nigerian hunters

The Nigerian Hunters Association has claimed that Boko Haram terrorists fear local hunters more than they fear troops of the Nigerian Army, explaining that this is so because members of the association know the secret of the terror sect.
Speaking in Yola yesterday, a retired police officer in charge of the association’s security in Adamawa, Garba Tarfa, stated that several hunters were “eager and waiting” for the go-ahead to overrun Sambisa forest and capture Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, alive, if given the permission.

He said, “We are ever physically ready at any given time if permitted to besiege Sambisa forest to capture the coward, Shekau, like fowl and his dreaded commanders.

“We know the nooks and crannies of Sambisa forest. In fact we know exactly where Shekau is hiding in the forest.

“They fear us more than conventional army, because they know we knew their secrets.”

Tarfa disclosed that Boko Haram leader, Shekau was hiding in Sambisa at a heavily-guarded location codenamed “Parisa”, surrounded by his commanders.

He stated that his members, working with the Army, had, in the past three months, intensified attacks on suburbs of Sambisa forest and rescued over 500 women and children.

The hunters’ leader said during the attacks, about 50 Boko Haram members were killed, injured or arrested and handed over to security forces.

Tarfa pointed out that the insurgency would end if the government worked more closely with hunters, disclosing that his group would need logistical support and patrol vehicles.

DAILY POST recalls that in September 2014, over 10,000 hunters as well as members of the Nigerian legion, under the auspices of civilian JTF, stormed the palace of the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Kyari Umar Ibn Garbai Al’amin El-kanemi to receive his blessings as they set to join the military to take over Sambisa forest. They resolved to go into the Sambisa and other terrorists’ hideouts to hunt Boko Haram sect and bring an end to the ongoing crisis.

Also in that year, some residents of Borno state appealed to the state government to enlist the services of local hunters and vigilantes in liberating towns captured by the Boko Haram insurgents. They stressed that the state must emulate neigbouring Adamawa by allowing hunters and members of the vigilance groups in the state to assist in arresting the Boko Haram menace. .

Meanwhile, Tarfa accused the authorities of paying more attention to the missing Chibok girls, than other women and children abducted by the terror sect.

TROOPS ENCOUNTERED BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS IN MALLAM FATORI

As part of Operation GAMA AIKI, troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE and Multinational Joint Task Force captured Mallam Fatori in northernmost part of Borno State after a fierce battle closely covered by air operations.

However, the terrorists reinforced around border with Niger Republic.

This was while the troops were consolidating on this success.

The troops killed several of the Boko Haram terrorists in the resulting encounter and subsequently had to withdraw to a vantage position.

The Operation is continuing.

Thank you for your usual and kind cooperation.

The following radars are in the inventory 0 the NAF and are located at various stations in the

country:

(a) P-12 short range

(b) P-35 medium range

(c) PRV-II Height Finder
, when operational, the P-12 and P-35

were instrumented to 360 KM and 370 KM range respectively. A low level, they both have 90

KM effective range. In addition, the P-35 has IFF that is only marked to Russian type of

transponder.

Furthermore, when co-located with PRV-II, it is capable of three-dimensional reception. It can

also be used for electronic warfare (EW) jamming, but will have to be manually operated in that

mode. The P-35 can transmit video pictures to command post within 30 KM.

Nigerian army says it's battling to push out terrorists of northeast town

Nigeria's army said it had launched an offensive to push Boko Haram militants out of a remote northeast town near the border with Niger, as it fought to end a seven-year insurgency destabilising the region.
The military said it had killed several militants in Mallam Fatori near Lake Chad but Boko Haram had called in reinforcements. "The operation is continuing," said army spokesman Sani Usman.
There was no immediate comment from Boko Haram, which does not speak to the media and only releases video statements.
But Islamic State, to whom Boko Haram pledged loyalty last year, said militants had attacked an army convoy in the area on Monday and killed 40 troops, in a statement on its affiliated news agency Amaq, picked up by SITE which monitors jihadist announcements.
There was no independent verification of either the army or the Islamic State account.
Boko Haram controlled a swathe of land in northeast Nigeria around the size of Belgium at the start of last year, but has been pushed out of most of that territory by the Nigerian army, aided by troops from neighboring Cameroon, Niger and Chad.
The militants have nevertheless continued to carry out suicide bombings in northeast Nigeria and neighboring countries, in their struggle to set up an Islamist state.
The Boko Haram insurgency has killed thousands and displaced more than 2 million people in Nigeria.
A U.N. official said on Friday more than 6 million people are "severely food insecure" and 568,000 children acutely malnourished in the nations around Lake Chad.
