PURPORTED BOKO HARAM VIDEO MERE PROPAGANDA

The attention of the Nigerian Army is drawn to a video clip released by Boko Haram Terrorist group from an undisclosed location a while ago, showing its purported leader, making spurious claims.

While effort is on going to subject the video for further forensic analysis, the Nigerian Army wishes to reiterate that it has captured and occupied the last known stronghold of the terrorists group in the Sambisa forest.

We would like to reassure the public that this video is nothing but mere terrorists propaganda aimed at creating fear in the mind of people and to remain relevant.

Therefore, there is no cause for alarm, more so as concerted effort in clearing the vestiges of Boko Haram terrorists wherever they might be hiding is still ongoing.

Our gallant troops deployed in various parts of the north east have continued to intensify search for all persons associated with Boko Haram terrorist group with a view to bring them to justice.

Consequently, the public are hereby enjoined to go about their normal lawful business, remain vigilant and security conscious.

They should also report any suspicious person or group of persons to security agencies.

Thank you for your kind cooperation.

That aircraft is an alpha jet, which belongs to NAF

American intelligence sources has credited their ISR donated assets, their drones , plus the fact that NAF now has 16 alpha jets and 22 mi-24/35 attack helicopters with turning the tide of this war.

So the 16 operational alpha jets come from air America, at least 4 with night vision and Russian style rocket pods.
The others are being maintained by innoson vehicle company .
NAF has never had this many alpha jets operational since the 80s.
The color coating doesn't say much. Notice the color scheme changes with other NA equipment

You're quoting that "War is Boring" article which bears no semblance on reality.

The comments from war is boring are completely false, Nigeria's government both that of Buhari and Jonathan's complained on multiple occasions that the U.S refused to share Intel with Nigeria.

They also conveniently did not state, the British Sentinel Surveillance aircraft broke down in Senegal.

There are no donated ISR assets from the US all the 11 active ISR aircrafts in the service of the NAF both manned and unmanned were bought with our own money.

The US also refused to weaponise NAF Alpha jets, they are 4 in number, when we asked foreign vendors they decided to rip us off, so we called their bluffs and did the weaponisation ourselves. We have received no significant outside help.

Only 4 jets came from America, the other 16 jets in NAF service were reactivated by the NAF from old stock. The Nigerian Air Force, not Innoson maintains the jets. Innoson only fabricated brake pads for NAF Alpha jets, and that's all.

Yes, we haven't had this many Alpha jets operational since the 90s, all thanks go to the able and focused leadership of the Chief of Air Staff, Sadiqe Abubakar, and his determination to see the localisation of NAF assets.

Many feared dead as Nigerian troops, Boko Haram battle in Rann, Borno State.

At least 15 Boko Haram fighters were killed in Borno on Friday as Nigerian troops of Operation Lafiya Dole and Boko Haram terrorists engaged in prolonged fierce battle in Borno State.
Military insiders told PREMIUM TIMES the battle ensued at 6 a.m this morning and did not end until after 9 a.m.
Our sources said the battle began when fighters of the terror group launched a surprise attack on troops location in Rann, in northern Borno, shooting sporadically.
Troops from 3 Battalion and 112 Task Force Battalion are stationed in the area, our sources said.
The soldiers responded promptly, killing an unknown number of the terrorists, and wounding several others.
The battle raged for over two hours, and when the dust settled, several terrorists were found dead.
One of our sources said more than 15 of the Boko Haram fighters were killed in action.
Another said the figure was much higher, saying many other terrorists escaped from the scene with gunshot wounds.

Both sources however said four Nigerian soldiers were wounded in action, adding that authorities had since contacted the nearby 22 Brigade to send air ambulance to evacuate a critically injured soldier.
Our sources gave arms and ammunition recovered from the terrorists to include two AK47 rifles, four FN rifles, one M21 rifle, 110 X 7.62MM NATO ammunition, 20 X 7.62MM special,, 40 X M21 rounds, 4 X FN extra magazine and two locally made explosives.
Friday’s battle is the first since the military overpowered and chased the Boko Haram sect from the dreaded Sambisa Forest, a fortress from where the group launched attacks on Nigeria for years.
It also came a day after the leader of the terror sect, Abubakar Shekau, appeared in a new video, claiming his group had not been defeated.
The Army immediately shot back, saying the video by Mr. Shekau was a piece of propaganda that should be disregarded.

I Also think so.

It's only the guards brigade that makes use of the Igirigi APC. I see them at the guards brigade in Abuja and at the streets of abuja.

U.S. strike in Somalia targets Al-Shabaab

The United States conducted an airstrike Monday in Somalia against Al-Shabaab, said Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby, Pentagon press secretary.

The strike, which took place in the area of Saakow, was targeting a senior leader of the Islamist militant group.

"At this time, we do not assess there to be any civilian or bystander casualties. We are assessing the results of the operation and will provide additional information, when appropriate, as details become available," Kirby said in a statement.

The strike was carried out by an unmanned aircraft, and was an operation of the U.S. Defense Department, according to a U.S. defense official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

On Saturday, Somalia government forces captured a top Al-Shabaab commander, said two of the country's military officials.

Zakariya Ismail Ahmed Hersi, Al-Shabaab's intelligence chief, was captured in a house near the town of El Wak, Somali military commander Isack Hussein Mursal told state-run radio.

He was a close associate of former Al-Shabaab leader Ahmed Abdi Godane, who was killed in a U.S. airstrike near Barawe city in September.

The capture came after militants with the group, which is linked to al Qaeda, attacked a large African Union base in Mogadishu last week, killing three Ugandan soldiers and a civilian.

Al-Shabaab has said that attack was revenge for the U.S. airstrike that killed Godane. The State Department had offered a $7 million reward for information on Godane's location. (CNN)

DEFENCE MINISTER LAYS FOUNDATION STONE FOR NAF UNIT IN ZAMFARA

The Honourable Minister of Defence, Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali today laid the foundation stone for the establishment of a unit of the Nigerian Air Force in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State. The new unit is named 207 Quick Response Group (QRG) and was established about two months ago under the Special Operations Command with Headquarters in Bauchi. The establishment of the Unit is intended to consolidate the presence of the NAF in the North West region of the Country with a view to better position the Service to combat emerging security challenges.

Addressing the gathering at the foundation laying ceremony, the Honourable Minister stated that the purpose of establishing 207 QRG Gusau is to consolidate on the gains so far recorded in the fight against insurgency while leaving no gap in the security architecture of the Nation. In his words, “the establishment of a quick response group in Gusau is part of efforts at consolidating on the current gains in the fight against insurgency and other forms of crime in the Nation. It is on the premise of this consolidation that the scope of operations and expansion of the Nigerian Armed Forces are being considered in order to leave no gap in the security architecture of our nation,” the Minister said.

While making his remarks, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Mshl Sadique Abubakar disclosed that the NAF intends to deploy men of its Special Forces to the Unit to enable it provide timely and efficient response to meet the Nigerian national security imperatives in the North West region. “Once fully activated the Unit would ensure the containment of ethno-religious crisis, terrorism, cattle rustling, armed banditry and other acts of violence” the CAS said. Meanwhile, the Governor of Zamfara State, Hon Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has eulogized the initiative by the Federal Government to establish a NAF Unit in the State, noting that the establishment of 207 QRG would go a long way to complement existing military and paramilitary outfits in Zamfara State while boosting the combined efforts at maintaining security.
