What happened to our indigenous Tv stations that they no longer air as before educative programs?

Below are some good programs I grew up watching:

The famous five
Sesame Street
3,2,1 Contact
Small wonder
Speak Out
The Magic School box
Tales by Moonlight
Matlock
Father Dowling Mysteries
Sanford and Sons
Moonlighting
Dr Who
Do it yourself
Schools Debate
Quiz Programs
Schools Drama
Family menu

Etc

Why are these programs abandoned in this generation and entertainment solely focused upon?
