And you think the NA and the various States Houses of Assembly will agree to amend a section that benefit their sponsors and they themselves seek to benefit from? Buhari and Buharists are learners
It's better for an attempt to be made than for Buhari to just assume that state houses of assembly would kick against it. Assumption is the lowest form of knowledge. Buhari is far better than Jonathan who was asked a question, rather than answer (even if it meant dodging it), he said, "if I say anything now, they will say the President said . . ."

Do you plan to be unemployed forever or why are you begging the government for 5k monthly? What exactly is the allowance for and is it 5k that will solve all your monthly problems?

Smh. I thought MDGs worked on poverty eradication in Nigeria.

Wasn't that what his useless supporters on NL kept telling us??

What would 5k do for an individual?

Madam, I don't "need" his money, but since he used it as a campaign strategy, he should fulfil his promises; including the 1 dollar= 1 naira scam grin

That being said, I'd suggest you don't use the adjective "poor" when quoting me again.

You're one of the few NL veterans I admire.

Respect yourself

Small cabinet can lead to excessive bureaucracy, where a single minister will be manning up to 4 big government agencies some which he doesn't have knowledge about

What are the impressions to suggest that a single minister might administer up to 4 big govt agencies?

The point i believe the president-elect is trying to get across is that the present govt is unnecessarily too big--too many positions/political offices created with little or NO positive effect. Hope you get my drift?

Where is the "poor" part of the post you quoted? Or does the poverty part imply that you are poor? If according to the MDGs report I saw on NL yesterday is true, then I do not see the need for the 5k allowance. Simple. I'm trying to understand how that was directed at you personally.

You see me for dream ni? undecided

I still maintain my stand that it's irrelevant whether Buhari runs a small or big government. What matters is the results. If he runs a small government but failed to deliver on his manifesto promises will you congratulate him for running a small cabinet? No. It's the outcome that's important in a policy, not input or output.

We expect to see constant electricity, affordable and accessible fuel, cheap food commodity, jobs and a stronger naira against the dollar. How he intends achieving this is his own headache, not mine.

It's vital that GMB puts together a small cabinet because it is easy & cheaper to run/manage. I understand your aspirations to see the social amenities up&running so to av a better standard of living but you need to know that there's always a means to an end, hence the small cabinet which is inevitably one of the ingredients needed to make things happen.

Sweetguy25:

I know what I mean when I say that nothing changes. Nigeria's federal budget will still be less than 6 trillion naira - which is barely enough for only the education sector. Even if Buhari scraps half of the federal MDAs and embark on so many cost-cutting measures, how much will be saved? It won't be more than 1 trillion naira (which is about 9 billion dollars or thereabout) which is still too small to create an even development of infrastructure in all sectors around the country. Our federal budget needs to be nothing less than a 150 billion dollars(annually) in order to create any meaningful impact in the economy. Every state in Nigeria also needs a budget of nothing less than 10 billion dollars to create and sustain development.

Also I believe there's nothing wrong with having a high recurrent expenditure, it all depends on the priorities of the government for the fiscal year.

Finally, you APC fans should tell Buhari to pass his own budget. Since he's complaining that recurrent expenditure takes up to ninety percent of the proposed budget, he should come up with his own budget that tailors his economic plan.
I want to disagree with you and gbawe. What we need is management and proper investment. One governor can build a road to a small rural farming community that enploys 2,000 people and another can set up powerplants that generate enough to sustain cluster of industries that will in Turn employ 20,000 people in 6 years time. Both are investment but different level of investment when the long term impacts are weighted.
Concerning a reduced cabinet, the bulk of trimming should be at local govt and state level. What are the lawmakers in Osun and Oyo state doing that is remarkably different? Nasarawa and Plateau? Kwara and Niger? Or even Delta and Edo? Using a top-down governing system where the bulk of power required to regulate and rule is at federal level I think the Federal level of governing body should be ready expand even further. Excess salary and allowances should be done away with but not hands.

Whether your cabinet is big or small is irrelevant. What the masses want is constant electricity, reduced fuel price, cheap food commodities, jobs and a stronger naira. Failure to do that will brand you a failure regardless of whether u ran a small govt or whether u slaughtered corruption grin

And ermmmmmm, I'm also waiting to see Buhari's original WAEC certificate grin

Why can't your learn to criticise constructively. And what's this talk abt WAEC certificate?
