It's ridiculous some days ago to find a killer Shekau leader of deadly terrorist group Boko Haram as one of the 100 most influential persons in the World.

According to Longman, influence is " the power to affect the way someone or something develops, behaves, or thinks, without using direct force or orders."

Going by the above meaning, how did Time come about putting Shekau on that list.

Shekau uses force and all sorts of human rights abuse are his weapons.


If a killer is influential, is Time Magazine saying that engaging oneself in brutal and callous endeavour is a good thing?

Time magazine is only trying to encourage criminality in Nigeria and Africa.

Nearly all the foreign media are cynical when they discuss issues relating to Africa. They are never sincere.

It's a total craziness and a slap on the integrity of the magazine.

It means the rest of the world shouldn't take its subsequent list seriously. It's an aberrant of ridiculous calumny aimed at portraying Nigeria as a violence nation.

I don't blame the Times Magazine. We Nigerians allowed Shekau to influence us into believing that Jonathan is a weak president. Many people voted APC because of Boko Haram. They feel more safe with the general called Buhari. And that was Buhari's plan all along.

I guess it's a misconception for the word INFLUENCIAL

They are right.. Influence can be on the Negative or positive side..

Shekau's inclusion is a slap on the face of Nigeria and Africa @ large. Shekau after killing tens of thousands in Northern Nigeria? What kind of influence are they referring to. Even if they are talking abt negative influence why wasn't Bin Laden included in Time magazine's list when he was alive cos he is more popular than Shekau.
