The Oyo State chapter of the Yoruba socio-cultural group, Odua Peoples’ Congress (OPC), has attributed the peace enjoyed in the country during the last Presidential and governorship elections to their appeasement of the deities of the land.

A statement signed by Rotimi Olumo, the state’s Deputy Coordinator, and Ibrahim Oladapo, who is coordinating Ibadan/Ibarapa Senatorial District, Peter Akanni, coordinating Oke-Ogun, and Jide Julius, the state’s Secretary General explained in part that the action of Otunba Gani Adams, the national leader and coordinator of the group, seemed to be misinterpreted by many despite his huge efforts in ensuring that the exercise that generated so much apprehension did not result to bloodletting in Yorubaland and the nation as a whole. It said Gani Adams who is a man of peace, made much appeasement to deities of the land which he directed all chapters to also do.
