There is heavy security presence at the South African High Commission in Labone in Accra to protect the facility for fear of reprisal attacks, according to sources close to the High Commission.

The Foreign Affairs Minister Hannah Tetteh has confirmed that a Ghanaian has died in Durban, South Africa where there have been xenophobic attacks, leading to the death of about 6 poeple, while hundreds have sustained injuries. Ghana’s High Commission in South Africa has also said 4 Ghanaians have been found dead in a shop in Free States, even though there is no direct link to xenophobic attacks
