S-east, S-south Regions Call For Nigeria’s Restructuring by Amaudeogu(m): 8:08am On Apr 21, 2015
By Innocent Anaba

The Lower Niger Congress, LNC, made up of people of the South-East and South-South geo-political regions, has called for the restructuring of the country to allow each region feel equal with other regions in the country and to control their resources for the betterment of their people.

It insisted that the outcome of the just concluded general elections was a conspiracy by the South-West and the Northern regions to sustain a master/slave relationship between and among the federating units.

Spokesman of the group, Mr Tony Nnadi, who addressed newsmen in Lagos on the just concluded general elections, that said the 75 million people who make up the Lower Niger, will decide whether they want to remain in the Nigeria federation and under what constitution such relationship will be.

Nnadi said that the celebrated democracy in Nigeria has left a deeply fractured nation where the ethnic nationalities that make up the Lower Niger region are treated as conquered people, who have lost their power to participate in the Nigerian state as equal pruners.

Nnadi said the brazen manner in which the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, treated the Electoral Act with disdain, the flagrant abuse of voting in the North, the manipulation of the card reader scheme were all done to weaken the voting strength of the Lower Niger region while the North was given unfair advantage in the electoral contest.

He added that the Lower Niger Congress was planning a self determination referendum in the region comprising of the South-South and South-East zones.

Meanwhile, President of LNC, Elder Fred Agbeyegbe, said: “Even though many disputations around our constitutional foundation remain unattended to and particularly without any hope of federalism being ushered into Nigeria, Nigeria has, once again, had an election, which the international community with their so-called interest in the workings of democracy, have, from reports submitted by their appointed observers, adjudged peaceful, free and fair.

“We are, nevertheless, compelled to observe that, even if the rest of the world cannot see through the facade of a penchant for democracy, we, the ethnic nationalities, minorities, owners of the resources, victims of and for whose sake the Nigerian brand of democracy was wrought, are aware that their commercial interests in a peaceful Nigeria, overrides any pretended interest in democracy.

“Why else should the European Union and the United States of America, the citadels of the principles of equality, equity, fairness and justice, accept rules of democracy couched from a slavery-enacting document like the 1999 Nigerian Constitution imposed by one group in Nigeria over all else who had no participation in its making and from whence comes the Nigerian notion of democracy, considering that the Constitution is the instrument mandating the elections they came to Nigeria to observe?

“Perhaps it is better left to posterity to ponder Foreign Secretary Kerry’s goading to quick elections in Nigeria in the same 2015, in which, based upon knowledge that so many ethnicities are entrapped in its slavery, some other Americans predicted that 2015 would usher in the death of Nigeria as a nation state. For our part, the writing is now on all walls, that it is time that those of us entrapped in the Lower Niger, the area more at the receiving end of Nigeria’s feudalistic system driven by the 1999 Constitution, should, soonest, examine our obviously un-abating status of ‘’slaves.”

Who are you to speak on behalf of the SS?

Back to topic. Any attempt by the SE to secede will be welcome by the SS and stakeholders will decide where our bread will be buttered more. Left to me honestly it's better we go with the SE. At least the oppression go small and we don't have to use out oil wealth to train a man that refuses to go to school but gave birth to 20 children and threatens u with bombs.

What do these people want really?

So, GEJ losing an election is now seen as a conspiring of the North and SW even though you all have agreed at one time or the other that he indeed failed?

Would you allow GEJ to be your president in the SS/SE regions if you were a separate entity? I am sure your answer will be "No".

So if you cannot accept Jonathan as your president why then do you expect more educationally advanced people of the SW and more politically aware people of the NW/NE to accept him to rule for another four years.

Please stop coming across as sore losers all the time!

^^^Hehehehehe grin grin grin

To be honest, if you ask most Ndigbo, want we want is equality and justice! Restructuring the country into 6 or 8 regions, true fiscal federalism, and a smaller central gov't is the way to go; this will stop all this agitation in its tracks! But some don't want it for a myriad of reasons: they lack self-belief and are fixated on allocation from the center; they feel they'll lose the control they presently exert over others via an overbearing all-powerful federal gov't and a warped constitution; they're jealous of others while suffering from inferiority complex and feel others -if freed and allowed to progress at their own pace- will leave them behind and show them up as incapable of being on their own; their oligarchs and elite will have less access to others resources they've been controlling and plundering since the end of the uncivil war!

A true fiscally compliant federal system of gov't or a confederation is the way to go, but we all know some will never let this happen, and this is why you see all this agitation for Biafra......those of us agitating for Biafra have woken up and smelt the coffee! Agitating for Biafra will force the hands of these internal colonizers to make concessions once they realize their precious status-quo is about to go up in smoke!

MY point is you were the ones that cancelled the regions and you are the ones calling for restructuring now,

Why the sudden change of heart? OR There was a clear case of lack of foresight in the initial step taken?

Hausa-Fulani own Nigeria that is why they have president and Senate president while their brother cum slave, Yoruba have the Vp and Speaker. That is how Nigeria was shared during the Civil War

Yoruba should know that there are no tribe called SS or ND. Also they should know that calabar man has nothing in common with urhobo man.

Why Yorubas so interested in what happens to the so called SS or ND?

Why are the Yorubas not fighting for the SS or ND to have their own country alone?

Why are Yoruba not seeking or fighting for Yoruba only country?

Are Yorubas afraid of being on their own?

Why do Yoruba so dreaded of igbos leaving Nigeria?

Shouldn't Yoruba be happy for igbos to leave and fight themselves to death? Or rather die in their erosion raved and undeveloped region?

Can Yorubas tell me their fear about igbos either leaving or staying in Nigeria?

Truly Yorubas are confused cowards

Decentralisation and devaluation of power is the way forward. We have finally got to the stage where a man from Daura or a brute from owo can't be allowed to dictate how I run thing in Abakiliki, Uyo or Asaba. Power must be reasonably shared and amalgamating units must be in a position to run their affairs from their earnings. Resource control and decentralisation of power or we are a step from disaster in this country.

Even with that, an Igbo man doesn't depend on oil to survive. All an Igbo man needs is a conducive business environment.shikena. Those with oil money will still buy spare parts from them. And everyone is happy

Look at how big Naija is, that oil from SS will be feeding everybody n u like it.

Anyway why I'm I even educating you. I know you're Yoruba or from Kogi. I've busted you guys times without number whenever you claim to be from SS
