Breaking News: INEC Card Readers Expose Electoral Fraud In Akwa-ibom by Farnesyl1989: 10:50pm On Apr 21, 2015 |
A DAILY POST investigation has revealed a serious electoral manipulation in Akwa Ibom State, where the overall result figures surpass the total number of accredited voters. It would be recalled that the Akwa Ibom State INEC Returning Officer, Prof. James Ekpoke, had declared Udom Emmanuel of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, winner of the April 11 governorship election in the state. Udom was said to have polled 996, 017 votes to defeat Umana Umana of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who polled 89,865 votes, while the LP and Accord Parties polled 86,000 and 10,000 votes respectively. With the said result, the total number of votes cast in the state stand at 1,182,534. However, the number of accredited voters for the election was originally 647,215. This figure has consequently put to question the outcome of the state governorship election, which many have alleged was marred by irregularities and violence. DAILY POST also gathered from a source, who prefers to remain anonymous, that the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio and the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Austin Okojie, are currently in serious dilemma on the best way to address what has been termed an embarrassing fallout from the results of the governorship election. A copy of the Summary of Accredited Voters which was forwarded to the INEC headquarters, and obtained by DAILY POST through the same source has revealed an obvious rigging as the total number of votes couldn’t be reconciled with the number of accredited voters. This, however, is contrary to the copy of the summary of the controversial result which the State INEC Returning Officer, Prof. James Epoke used in declaring the results of the election. The figure in his own result showed that the total number of registered voters was 1,548,531 while 1,158,624 were given as the total number of accredited voters. Our source, has however obtained from INEC, an original document revealing the total number of accredited voters as captured by the Electronic Card Readers, stating that there have been several questions arising from what he described as the alarming discrepancies in the results declared in Akwa Ibom State. An INEC staff, who sent the document to our source, revealed that the State governor and the INEC Commissioner in the state have been confronted by the INEC authorities over the perceived irregularity in the Akwa Ibom governorship election. He told our source thus: “To be very honest with you, the PDP in Akwa Ibom and our Oga who is the REC there did not do their homework well. And unless they look for a way to block the alarming loopholes, they would end up dragging their names in the mud. As a Resident Electoral Commissioner, you saw that the Chairman of the commission, Prof Attahiru Jega had, just in one glance during the declaration of the presidential election, spotted discrepancies in the result coming from this same Akwa Ibom State, where you presided over as REC, and had told the Returning Officer to go back and sort it out; yet, you didn’t learn. ‘’What would it have cost you to relax, call all the parties you had worked with to declare this controversial result and then work all through the night to ensure that you allocate the figures perfectly in such a way that the total number of accredited voters as captured and presented by the card readers correspond with the results you declared?. Right now, even if you were to tell it to my 3-year-old daughter, how would you go about explaining to her that almost the same margin the President used in winning the election in Akwa Ibom State is the same one the PDP governorship candidate used in defeating the closest contender? ‘’Where is the room for the decline in the number of votes due to outbreak of violence that reportedly marred the voting process in the state? Or would you say that people will still stay back to vote after gunshots have been fired and people scampered away for safety? How about voters’ apathy that was http://dailypost.ng/2015/04/21/inecs-card-reader-exposes-electoral-fraud-in-akwa-ibom/?wt=2

Nonsense, APC stop crying, Concede defeat and move on, The only credible election is not the one that APC wins, Other party can win too. Only a deluded person will even contemplate an APC win in Akwa Ibom in the face of all the uncommon transformation that Akpabio did in the state, If election is conducted 1million times in present day Akwa Ibom, the party of uncommon transformation will win all the time. APC take all your forged evidence and head to court where the peoples mandate will defeat the bruised ego of APC again in addition to the electoral defeat in the state. 8 Likes 1 Share |

it was obvious from the results that it was a total fraud I don't still get why akpabio had to do this because I believe pdp would still have won without rigging 20 Likes |

So disgusting. Now we see PDP in their usual abracadabra where total number of votes cast is approximately twice the number of accredited voters. Where did the extra 600, 000 come from?? Yet when the General speaks of this charade, some folks with mucus for brains would rise up to say he's drawn a battle line with bla bla bla. Just watch how the tribunal takes a couple of days to throw this nonsense out and order a fresh election. And to think same thing happened in the presidential poll.... Smh. What a shame. 12 Likes |

wakacome: You can take this to the bank: Buhari will not be able to deliver 1/4 of all the projects that Akpabio delivered in Akwa Ibom in any state of this federation including his home state of katsina. APC go lick you wound, Akwa Ibom Guber poll was a massacre for APC. only a deluded person would think that APC can win in Akwa Ibom. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

If it's not Rivers, then it must be Akwa Ibom I think it's time for PDP to beam their searchlights on the fraud piloted by INEC/State Governors in Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Sokoto, Borno, Lagos and Kebbi 4 Likes 1 Share |

jazzydee: No Nigeria will not "move on" until this type of impunity is curbed. If you can't win in an election without wholesale rigging, thuggery and violence then you have no place in the mordern Nigeria we are trying to craft. INEC MUST tackle these issues NOW if not they WILL happen again. The deaths in Rivers and Akwa Ibom, the wholesale rigging and thuggery and voter intimidation MUST be looked into, this is not about PDP or APC as some childishly myopic minds like the poster quoted above would like us to believe. All we say is hold mature elections and whoever wins wins. Don't kill people and snatch boxes and make up numbers and scare people away from polls with violence then say "we were going to win any way", test your mandate in a free and open space and stop being the cowards you are after seeing how Jonathan was thrown out. And no "jazzydee" or whatever you like to call yourself, increasing your font size does not automatically make your post right or sensible. 9 Likes |

SkyBlue1:Nonsense, if election rigging must be stopped it must begin with the recent APC rigging in the north by using underage voters, foreigners, lopsided distribution of voters card even to boko haram ravaged region where voters had escaped to chad, niger and mountains/caves but some how Jega managed to circumvent boko haram to give them PVCs, Lagos state election must be scrapped because of wholesale rigging by APC. If you think your comment is smart, then you are only smart by half! 2 Likes 2 Shares |
