Where is Ibadan on this list? shocked

Ibadan was formed by different yoruba people mixed together back den during war time back then in yoruba land..It is not a unique yoruba language on it own and it reflect in the original name of Ibadan i.e Ebaa-odan and the city has evolve overtime as we ve come to know.

Look, it is their problem if they insist they are not Yorubas. The main thing is, they speak a Yoruba dialect. That needs no argument. It's like Aussies saying they are not British. No wahala; the language you speak nko?
thank you my brother jare.

All notable Yoruba towns have it in their history that they came from ile ife. Those town s that do not migrate directly from ife migrate from the towns that migrate from ife directly. I have listened to many yoruba obas sharing the history of how their town came to be. All of them mention ed the names of particular sons, grand sons of oduduwa or hunters, warriors or babalawo that brought them all the way from ile ife. Yoruba obas are the custodian s of their history and origin passed down from generation s. These are the custodians we have to believe about the origin of their tribe, and not what politics and white men want you to believe. So, its not a political thing like you said. If other tribes don't know where they come from does not mean the same applies to Yoruba s. Despite that Yoruba s fought inter tribal war did not make them deny the fact that they all originated from ile ife. That they came from the same clan. I only welcome divergent opinions from any Yoruba oba, of which I have not yet seen or heard.

All notable cities, but not all the Yoruba speaking people around the world can perfectly trace back to Ife. Well, that was my personal opinion. So many things have happened that has obscured history, since we don't have sure documents, we can't be too certain about a lot of things. We have to start from somewhere, and since oral history is what we've got, fine, we have to do with it-I'll rather believe an oba than what the white man says. They don't know any better.

However, oral tradition is very limited and many of those historical accounts are now being challenged. Oral accounts have not been able to give a good story of the origin of Oduduwa, if there were people in Ife before Oduduwa , the relationship between Benin and Yoruba etc for example. The truth is that, it very easy to twist history when there is no sure record. Igala and Itsekiri for instance would have denied completely any link with the Yoruba race, if not for the linguistic evidence that is so compelling .

Well, I will change the word "political" cos can be misconstrued.

Anago is what the Yorubas were known as, before Yoruba came into general usage after British arrival.
That is why people in Benin and Togo still use Anago or nago.
As far back as the 17th Century, Hausa's referred to Yoruba people as Yarubawa (different spellings). They had a written culture which was why the first reference to us was traced to them. This means we also identified as Yoruba.

Anago is often used in the context of the language rather than the people.
