People have begun gathering at the Peter Roos
Park in Park Town, Johannesburg, in preparation
for a march to the Mary Fitzgerald Square, against
the scourge of xenophobia which has plagued the
country.
More than 30 000 people are expected to be part
of the march. The xenophobic attacks began in
townships around Durban about three weeks ago
and spread to Gauteng. At least seven people
have been killed and thousands displaced.
Bus loads of people from all across the province
are gathering in their numbers, as they prepare to
march through the streets of Johannesburg in a
spirit of unity and to show solidarity with foreign
nationals.
Gauteng Premier David Makhura along with
members of the provincial legislature are expected
to lead the march The march has been organised
by representatives from social justice networks,
trade unions and non governmental organisations.
Gauteng Premier David Makhura along with
members of the provincial legislature are expected
to lead the march.
Crowds of people who have gathered are all in a
jovial mood singing and dancing across the park
in anticipation of the commencement of the
march.
A large contingent of police officers is out in full
force.

They should've done this a long time ago. Nevertheless, no amount of marching will ever bring back the dead or erase the hatred most Africans now have towards them.
I pray for peace to reign.
