Should APC Government Approve Dress Code for Public Officials? by akoaki(m): 3:00pm On Apr 24, 2015
This is a topic that may not attract the attention of many of us before now. It has to do with how our public officials in all arms of government in both federal and states dress to their job and to official engagements.
Though we have nigerian traditions and cultures which many would believe should dictate their dressing, but i think most of those heavy and expensive dressings are more appropriate for social-cultural events. Except for officials of some black nations, most government officials and representatives worldwide do appear in public smart and ready for work unlike what you see amongst nigerian officials.
Some years back, lagos state introduced something like this for its civil servants and it was highly commended. Go to lasg secretariat and you will be impressed how smart the workers there dress to work. This is not so in abuja and other states and local govenments.
How long will it take nigerians to change old habits that inhibit efficiency and productivity in our public service ?
