President Jonathan is a good man. He's just a month away from leaving as president of Nigeria and he could have signed this constitutional amendment bill that doesn't particularly concern him anymore but he refused to. Does the President have anything to lose if he does that? I don't think so. For those who don't know what's going on, allow me to lecture you.
The Nigerian Senate is trying to amend the 1999 constitution to the effect that it will whittle down some executive powers of the President and give more power to the legislature and judiciary. If amended, it means there are some decisions and actions the president can't take without the consent of the National Assembly and there will be decisions the National Assembly can take without the consent of the president. Like I said, GEJ could sign this and walk away but instead he refused to sign it. He wrote a 7-page letter to the Senate explaining why he declined to sign the document into law. But now, the National Assembly is saying that after 30 days, if the president doesn't sign the document, they will override his veto. Meaning that they will give themselves the power to amend the constitution without the president's signature. Now the federal government has instituted a suit at the Supreme Court to nullify the proposed amendments to the 1999 Constitution. Indeed, PGEJ is a good leader. One thing i strongly believe is that in months and years to come, Nigerians will realize that we have thrown away a good leadership.
GEJ believed so much in the entity called Nigeria this is humble view.

Do you really want to force the outgoing president on the throat of Nigerians? What concerns "good man" with Nigerians not getting jobs due to excessive government waste and corruption? What concerns "good man" with inability to fight corruption in the very sector that feeds Nigeria? Eat good man now, we want effective leadership that will provide services to the people, not protection for the cabals.

He did the right thing, but please stop praising every little thing he does, Nigerians are not blind, we know he is a good man, but he's just not the president Nigeria needs now or anytime soon. You guys helped to destroy his government, telling him everything was alright, and hyping his achievements so much that he felt people were happy and okay. Stop the praise singing, we never threw away nothing, we saved Nigeria from imminent collapse from the cabals he couldn't rescue himself from, we did the very right for Nigeria, which is bigger than him, or any of us.

You have to move on, your interest in his government is not worth more than the welfare of our nation and citizens.

The said amendment was fraught with booby traps. Members of the National Assembly are just overzealous and selfish. I just wish their salaries could be reduced by 95%.
But op, u copied this post hook-line-and-sinker from Lindaikeji with no credit to the author.
