Hello
I felt I should write you personally about the unfolding political landscape we find ourselves as Nigerians first of all. These are my opinion and my views which I am entitled to.
In your last submission about Almakura in the governance of Nasarawa state which I am not an arm chair commenter because I have lived and worked in Lafia and covered a large area of the state in the course of my work. I was in Doma, Obi, keana, nas eggon, karu, akwanga and other smaller towns. It is important to state that the governor has done quite well on the area of road construction which come with accompanying Good drainage system of which I have only seen in Anambara state. The roads are solid!!. My first day in Lafia to pick the job, I turned it down and had to be begged to stay back. Development is a gradual process in the right direction. But one notion I want to correct you is on the issue of Almakura being Apc. Almakura has been Cpc which is the party on which manifesto he was elected to be governor. Same thing for Rivers, Kano, kwara. This is the dispensation in which the Apc manifesto will be used for governance and scrutinized to see if it works accordingly. Ascribing the achievement of Mimiko in ondo state to be that of Pdp is politically unfair and nit being honest to ourselves.
I am a follower of macro economics and How political decisions affect our daily lives. It's unfortunate that most Nigerians have become intellectually lazy and have moved on with the band wagon that these politicians have put on the road. My thought is that for the first time, We have two political parties which are leaning to two economic blocs namely the capitalist and the socialist. Having studied the two, I chose to pitch my tent with capitalism. Let me add up here that I am not a card carrying member of ANY political party. my leaning is based on ideology.
My view is that the APC has it's roots in the Action Group, The jamaar Talakawas that was in the 2nd republic and the cpc which is a new movement mainly by young, poor and underprivileged youths who are angry with the burgeorsies and want change. The need for change was so strong that the had their way.
Now, let me Tell u my reservations.
As a socialist party, the central belief is that government should create jobs, free education, free healthcare, social insurance, more generous pensions, create corporations etc. My opinion is that in the current economic clime with oil at $60 per barrel, a low taxation, high importations etc. The issues in Venezuela should come into sight, Cuba is another country whose socialism has failed them....Libya too. I feel it's time young and educated youths like you and I work out a road Map that works for us as Nigerians for Nigerians.there could be a balancing of the two ideologies just as China has done being a Communist one party state balancing with capitalism.
I have been a strong advocate for the Chinese model in all facet of our national lives to tackle corruption, nepotism, employment, education etc. The Chinese model will work well in Nigeria because we have similarity in population. We are better placed than China because we are resource rich which China isn't. Capitalism and socialism could be balanced using the Chinese method. hope I did not bore you?
Regards!
