Following the successful trekking of Suleiman Hashimu from Lagos to Abuja , another die-hard supporter of President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, identified as Abubakar Duduwale is set to walk from Yola, capital of Adamawa State to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja. Duduwale who is from Yola North Local Government in Adamawa State and Chamba by tribe told newsmen in Yola today as he commenced his journey that the adventure was to express his joy over the emergence of Buhari as president-elect. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, he began the journey at Yola Gate on Yola-Numan highway at about 6.30am today. He said he had wanted to start the journey a day after the Independent National Electoral Commission announced Buhari as the winner of the March 28 presidential election, but noted that somebody from Lagos pre- empted him. “The reason why I am trekking from Yola to Abuja is to express my joy and solidarity with President-elect Muhammadu Buhari. “I want to trek from Yola to Abuja to witness the inauguration ceremony of President-elect,” Duduwale said. The other trekker, Hashimu, became famous when he was spotted in Lapai in Niger state and got a befitting welcome from the people of the state. He stayed at the Lapai palace for two nights and continued on his journey. An Abuja businessman was said to have paid N550,000 to cover one week’s accommodation and food for Suleman Hashimu at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja ahead of his arrival. It is worth mentioning, that Hashimu’s journey has triggered mixed reactions among Nigerians. |

Not a new thing to those of us in Edo. Our brothers and sisters has travelled by Leg from Edo to Italy and Spain. People having been trekking from Edo to Libya passing through desert and well armed mafia on the way which take them almost 2 months to get to Libya and after that still cross the sea to Italy. Thousands of Edo and Nigerians has been doing this and this Lagos to Abuja is a child play compare to this. I only commend him for keeping to his words but for the labour, it is not a new thing. I am not hating here, just trying to tell those from other states who don't know about travelling by Leg to Europe. |
