247IREPORTS – President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, has stopped the African Independent Television ( AIT) from covering his engagement, saying the two stations are security risky to the
the incoming president.

It will be recalled that both NTA and AIT were conspicuously medium which were used by President Goodluck Jonathan and his party, the People Democratic Party (PDP) to campaigned against the APC flagbearer during the just concluded elections

But our correspondent gathered Buhari’s team is yet to come to term with what was described as issues of ethics and standards neglected during the campaign by the two media houses

On Monday, AIT crew was asked to leave the Defence House during the visit of the Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria to the President-elect, but the crew refused to leave the venue immediately.

When contacted Buhari Spokesman, Garba Shehu said that what gave rise to the measure was concerns over security and ethical standards which members of the family of the President- elect raised.

.”AIT has been asked to stay aside based on security and family concerns. In addition, the Buhari has decided that they will have to resolve some issues relating to issues of standard and ethics.

“We will be talking with them to try and resolve the matter but for now the station has been asked to stay aside Because like I said there are some family and security concerns. They have been asked to step down their coverage until we resolve the matter with them on ethics and standards.”

He however, said it was not true that the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) has been bared along with the AIT, Shehu said the NTA crew are free to attend the events of the President-elect and to cover it accordingly.

Buhari will take this country backward if he will act as a civilian dictator. I did not vote for Buhari cos I knows that he will disappoint Nigeria, Buhari will not obey the constitution and he will act as a military man forgetting this is democracy. Decisions made now by gen. Buhari before may 29th are his personal decisions to make & they should be respected. After his swearing in into office as president then we can then criticize him but on the other hand AIT has now become a political media house or wing under the PDP that has now made the station to lose its focus & fairness. AIT should take a clue from Channels by being fair to all parties.

You saTANists are so pained that you can't even comprehend that he only barred AIT from his private residence, and based on the facts on ground,it is well justified.

AIT should now have more time to devote to producing & airing more malicious documentaries since that's their forte. SMH

Well i believe you are learned enough... An organization that is headed by a chief member of the opposition party and also campaigned against him in all ramifications can never be trusted again, They will surely find an avenue to discredit his achievements and twist his words, about buhari being a failure, i beg to differ, just his name being mentioned you could see all the commotion in NNPC and secret refunding of funds. Do you think the swiss government are fools?? they must have had information about the abacha loots they came to deliver to buhari but never trusted the GEJ administration cuz its just damn too corrupt.

Buhari that step you took is a hazardous one oh; you gave your reasons as concerns over security and ethical standards (which your family raised) but did not put into consideration the message you're sending to Nigerians.
