Buhari Cautions Personal Aides On Media Roles by Nobody: 9:13pm On Apr 29, 2015 |
Abuja, Nigeria, 29 April 2015: The president- elect of Nigeria, General Muhammadu Buhari, has instructed all his staff, including the personnel attached directly to him, to steer clear of all dealings with the media, and leave all media affairs to his official media team. In a statement released in Abuja on Wednesday, April 29, by Directorate of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, General Buhari aligned himself with the pronouncement of his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC which had earlier expressed disagreement with the temporary barring of the African Independent Television (AIT) from covering his media affairs. “I would like everyone to henceforth stay within his/her defined area of responsibility,” General Buhari said. The president-elect added that his media team should be left to deal with their media colleagues as they best knew how. According to the statement, General Buhari was neither consulted nor informed about the AIT barring, and only became aware of the matter after the public uproar it generated. “The time of CHANGE has come,” he said, “and we must avoid making the same mistakes that the outgoing government made.” http://www.swiftreporters.com/buhari-cautions-personal-aides-on-media-role http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/04/buhari-cautions-personal-aides-on-media-roles /#sthash.50GFy8tM.dpuf lalasticlala |

It was quite obvious the team that barred AIT were being overzealous and wanted to do,in d typical Nigerian way,"eye service". AIT is almost dead as a TV venture after those distasteful documentaries. It shouldn't be allowed to gain political capital from it after its self inflicted, impending demise. Once your viewership in an open TV environment plummets, advert patronage declines drastically, and with almost zero advert patronage expected from the next govt and its close partners too, no one needs tell AIT that it has to drastically regig the way it conducts its TV biz,or risks imminent collapse. 1 Like |
