Majority of Nigerians surveyed in a
PREMIUM TIMES poll have called for the
impeachment of the Governor of Ekiti
State, Ayodele Fayose.
The poll, which had 1,942 respondents,
was created to gauge public perception
of the ongoing impeachment saga
rocking Ekiti State.
Nineteen APC lawmakers of the state
House of Assembly are bent on
impeaching the controversial state
governor, who is a member of the
Peoples Democratic Party.
The respondents were asked: “What do
you think about the impeachment plot
against Governor Ayo Fayose?”
In their responses 1,529 participants,
representing 78.93 per cent, voted, “He
should be impeached.”
On the other hand, 16.01 per cent, that
is 311 respondents, said he should not be
impeached, while 82, representing 4.22
per cent, responded “I don’t care.”
The 19 APC legislators had two weeks
ago served a notice of impeachment on
Mr. Fayose, and forwarded a letter to
the Chief Justice of the State, Ayodeji
Daramola, asking him to constitute a
panel to probe the governor.
The lawmakers were away from the state
until recently, following the victory of
the APC in the presidential election.
During their absence, seven PDP
legislators were performing legislative
duties which many consider illegal.
However, Justice Daramola has not
constituted the panel as requested by the
APC lawmakers. The seven PDP
lawmakers, with Dele Olugbemi, as
“Speaker”, had said the letter from the
APC to the Chief Judge lacked effect.
On November 20, the PDP lawmakers,
amid tight security provided by the
police, sat and elected Mr. Olugbemi as
speaker and Abeni Olayinka as his
deputy.
They also approved some appointments
into the governor’s cabinet and local
government areas. While that happened,
19 APC members, including Mr. Omirin
and his deputy, Adetunji Orisalade, were
in Lagos.
The House, under Mr. Omirin, proceeded
on recession almost immediately after
Mr. Fayose was inaugurated.
The PDP viewed that as a ploy by the
APC lawmakers to frustrate the newly
inaugurated Fayose admistration, since
the approval of the House is
constitutionally required for various
appointments by the governor, including
that of the commissioners.
After the Supreme Court upheld his
election last week and dismissed APC’s
appeal, Mr. Fayose sounded conciliatory,
expressing his readiness to pursue peace
with the APC.
However on a recent live television
broadcast, Mr. Fayose asked Ekiti people
to defend their mandate from the APC
lawmakers, who he claimed were
invading the state to impeach him.
“My mandate is your mandate and you
must defend it,” he said , urging public
transport workers to pressure the
Assembly against impeaching him.
The governor’s broadcast raised tension
in the state, as both the Okada riders
association and the National Union of
Road Transport Workers issued
statements, urging members to defend
Mr Fayose’s mandate “with the last drop
of our blood”.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, traditional
rulers in the state, reiterated their
“opposition in an unequivocal term to
moves by the outgoing legislators and

Mr. premium poll, go and ask Ekiti people if they want Fayose or not. They should also go and ask people from Ghana if they want Buhari as Nigeria president.

Majority of ekiti people don't care bout those polls so it was voted by apc e rats like ibnsultan, omenka, gbawe, et all.....you can't impeach God same goes to fayose
