When you're born on board a ship or aircraft belonging to a country, you would normally assume the citizenship of that country. However, No European country that I'm aware of still confers citizenship by birth even when born on their soil. This then makes the child assume the citizenship of the parents by descent though with Italian birth certificate.

Well, Oremus....if your transformation had gotten us off oil and into industrial development....perhaps young lady would have been having her baby in Nigeria...and you and I would be invited to the naming ceremony to give our blessings.

But on a more serious note...we can stop this...and it involves us Nigerians getting our state and Federal government to develop an economy based on industrial development....which will provide guaranteed JOBS...that will keep Nigerians at home...rather than risk their lives on the big seas.

Nigeria must get off oil. Oil is a curse.

For children born on board a flight, citizenship is determined by the airspace of the country the flight is. as for the sea, I'm not too sure; maybe they'll choose the closest country.

Ever heard of jus soli or jus sanguinis citizenship rights?

When flying over a country that practices Jus Soli, you would have a chance on receiving citizenship cos most countries agree that the plane is considered national ground.

They have the citizen of the country's flag on the flight... I remeber I was thought this in my university days in the course: state and economy years back.
It's not only about flight it's about whose territory was the baby born.
