Jonathan Fooled Ndigbo On 2nd Niger Bridge, Ohanaeze Tells Buhari by ayokellany: 6:15am On May 08, 2015
ABUJA—Ohanaeze Ndigbo Caretaker Committee, yesterday, told the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, that President Jonathan lied to the Igbo nation about awarding contract for the construction of Second Niger bridge and major federal roads in the South East. Listing Enugu-Awka-Onitsha Expressway and Enugu-Umuahia-Aba Expressway, the committee said that up till now, work was yet to start at the sites. It added that no financial commitment had been made by the Federal Government to commence the construction of the Second Niger Bridge, saying that those were deceptive campaign messages to Ndigbo.

The committee made the revelation during its congratulatory visit to Buhari at the Defence House in Abuja. The leader of the delegation, Chief Ralph, who spoke on behalf of the Committee, however, told the President-elect that the South-east was a silent supporter of his presidential ambition. He also stated that the region would fully support the incoming government to succeed, urging him to reconstruct Nigeria. Revisitation of the report of Oputa Panel and the issue of abandoned property in the country were also presented before Buhari.

You drove through the badly neglected and impassable Enugu-Awka-Onitsha Expressway and the Enugu-Umuahia-Aba Expressway, needless to mention the Oba-Okigwe Highway. “Contrary to the election claims by Jonathan the drunkard Ebele, no appreciable work is going on these roads, no financial arrangement has been firmed up for the Second Nigeria Bridge. The Oputa Panel report has been gathering dust and Ndigbo have pleaded for the revisitation of the so-called abandoned property in Nigeria and its collateral reparation demand. According to the leader, Buhari assured them of equity.n“He gave us assurance that he is going to treat the entire nation as his constituency for all and we believe him,” he said.

haha Mr Ralph, if GMD hasn't won this election, you may not have said this.

Chief Ralph seems to be one of the wisest leaders in the geopolitical zone cos of this statement made during the zone's endorsement of Jonathan preelection.
Barely 48 hours after the Chief Gary Igariwey-led
apex Igbo socio - cultural organisation, Ohaneze
Ndigbo endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan
for the February 14 presidential election, another
faction led by Chief Ralph Obioha has distanced
itself from any endorsement, insisting that it
would be counter-productive to commit Ndigbo
to any form of blanket support.

They made it clear that they will not be
endorsing either President Jonathan or his main
challenger and the candidate of the All
Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu
Buhari for next week’s presidential election.

I mean this days will need to check the authenticity of news from our media houses before commenting coz of their late mis representation or misquoting.

Meanwhile while they were calling northerners almajiri, Gov. Kwankwaso was building the longest fly over bridge in Africa, without FG and without 13% derivation.

Why couldn't Ndigbo, even as a region, cooperate to build this phantom 2nd Niger bridge themselves instead of letting it to be used as an object of mockery by any president that wants to use the region? Why waste productive time in idle and empty chestbeating?

Clearly they are learning their lessons now.

lol..... Ndigbo deceiving themselves right from independence till date. when most of us from Niger delta, particularly those of us from Rivers state were saying that GEJ is not doing anything for us, Ndigbo were praise singing GEJ's name on different pages of the newspapers on daily basis. They were busy insulting my Governor, Rotimi Amaechi. But today, GEJ has lost the election and it has dawn on them that GEJ is going home on May 29 and they are crying. As long as am concerned, GEJ has done so much for the Ndigbo including building and commissioning the second Niger bridge.

That may be the headline but not all Ndigbo fell for that and not sensible to know it will be suicidal to do that. Chief Ralph Obiora was one of them.

Barely 48 hours after the Chief Gary Igariwey-led

for the February 14 presidential election, [b]another
faction led by Chief Ralph Obioha has distanced
itself from any endorsement, insisting that it

to any form of blanket support.

They made it clear that they will not be
endorsing either President Jonathan or his main
challenger and the candidate of the All
Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu
Buhari for next week’s presidential election.
In a joint media briefing addressed by Obioha
and Dr. Zed Chukwujama as chairman and
secretary of the organisation’s Caretaker
Committee respectively as well as Chief
Mbazulike Amaechi, the chairman of the
organisation’s Elders’ Council, the group asked
Igbos at home and those residing in various
parts of the country to vote according to their
conscience.

They expressed dismay that until now, none of
the two major presidential candidates including
President Jonathan of the PDP and Buhari has
entered into any form of agreement with Ndigbo
on the four cardinal issues they have outlined.
The issues according to them include, security of
lives and property of Ndigbo, infrastructural
development in Igbo land, Reparation for
atrocities and war crimes against Ndigbo at least
at the level recommended in the Oputa Panel
Report as well as what would become of Ndigbo
after the tenure of the would-be president by
2019.

“Of the two candidates, only one sent a high level
delegation to us and we told them that we must
see the candidate himself because whatever
agreements to be reached will be implemented
by him, if he wins and becomes president. We
have not seen the candidate as at this date. The
other presidential candidate has not made any
contact with the committee, which is the
authentic legal organ of Ohaneze. If his believes
in some other areas or persons to gather the
Igbo nation into one basket, we can only wish
them good luck.

“Where do the Igbos belong and what is their
fate after the incumbency of whoever wins in
2015 election? President Jonathan has said it
openly that after his second term, it will be the
turn of the north. On the other hand, Buhari wins
and desires to emulate Nelson Mandela and
bows out after one term because of his age, it
will be reasonable to expect another northerner
to complete his term. Thereafter, he would want
to exercise his constitutional right of second
term, making 12 years, “ they noted.
In view of the situation on ground, the faction
asked the Igbos to pray for God’s guidance on
the day of election and vote according to their
conscience advising them also to be vigilant
before, during and after the polls.

They were also asked to make appropriate
arrangements to save their lives, family and
property, while appealing to the governors of the
south-east to make contingency arrangements,
separately and collectively to evacuate Igbo
citizens who may be trapped in an area of
violence in view of the ominous uncertainties
that loom in the air.
