Blair urges Buhari to be hard on NNPC, take tough actions by Nationaldaily: 1:34pm On May 21, 2015
UK ex-PM Tony Blair has advised President-elect Mohammed Buhari to crack the NNPC nut, remove fuel subsidy, and take other critical decisions within the first 100 days of his government, riding on the goodwill that saw him into office.
Blair, represented by Lord Mandelson, a member of the UK Labour Party, said this in Abuja during the opening ceremony of the APC Policy Dialogue on how to implement the party’s Agenda for Change. The two-day dialogue was themed Implementing Change: From Vision to Reality.

“Take advantage of that goodwill that comes with being elected to take difficult decisions that may inflict immediate pain, but in the long-term interest of the country and government,” Blair said.
According to him, there is something wrong going on in a country with such extraordinary resources of oil and amazing supply of energy, yet power generation is not happening the way it should.

Yes Buhari has to be tough on corruption and the causes of corruption but Blair et al should not overstep their mark giving advise about sensitive issues they are not best placed to speak on. It is vital Buhari shows the west, ASAP, that he is happy to work with them yet he is his own man who must be taken on his own terms alone without being dictated to by anyone.

Baba the pressure is much on you. But by God and the support of the well meaning masses you'll succeed.

Mehn! And to think that he has just 48 months to transform this s.h.1.t.h.o.l.e of a country.

Good advice coming from Mr. Blair. Nevertheless, Buhari should watch his back.

GMB don't forget to go hard on Royal Dutch Shell, Total and any other foreign entity breaking Nigerian Law. Thank you Mr Blair, but your advice is a little one-sided.
