Knowing fully well that the UK is just extending a hand of fellowship to maintain ties of imperialist to a vassal and not to relate as equals is not a rocket science but the reality of today is key to our national development. Did I hear N1 to $1? I rebuke dreaming in a world of fantassy. Nevertheless, the visit is good for the incoming government as it will allay the fears of our western partners that the people's General will not lock-up on them. |

kjhova: You seem not to understand the fundamental conflict in relations between western nations and developing nations. You naively assume we can somehow share the same interests in a win-win relationship, not realising that we are seen by them as potential competition in all spheres of endeavour. And that it is really not in their economic interests to see us (much less help us) industrialise and become truly independent of them. So we are rightly suspicious seeing our President-elect cosying up to them even before he's formally assumed office. 1 Like |

"*On tackling corruption, they agreed this was a priority to ensure Nigeria’s prosperity and success. The Prime Minister agreed to look at what technical assistance and support the UK could provide to the Nigerian government as it looks to undertake its reforms." This ^^ is why he was there. Cameron: Sai baba, how far na? Buhari: Walahi, I know once I return to power, most of them will run here, so I came to make down payment for 'flenty' crates. 1 Like |

ROSSIKE: I am from a position of common sense & not naivety. We cannot afford to willingly hold a position of hostility & ideological disregard for the West. Africa has been down that route in the past & it's a cold & empty place. There's a salient Yoruba saying that "it is wisdom to refer to the mad man as bros so far he grants you the right of passage". China was a determined opponent to d West & the G7 up till the 1980's when their government learnt a lot from Singapore's Kuan Yew on how to befriend your enemy/competitor. Despite that China would rise to be major economic competitor to the West, many western companies were lured to relocate to China in d 80's & 90's. Today, the same West has accepted China into the G8, WTO & GATT. Nigeria & the UK are not enemies. Unequal friends we may be but surely not enemies. GMB is on the right path to court a major G8 member. It is the wise thing to do. BTW, Nigeria doesn't necessarily need to industrialise to be a wealthy nation. Wealth of nations are not necessarily built on industries. 1 Like |

Is the UK government really interested in Nigeria's welfare or is their interest on WHO is leading Nigeria. Why didn't they extend all these ' goodies' to Jonathan when it was obvious that the challenges were weighing him down. Or didn't Jonathan seek for their assistance and cooperation? |

Returning Nigeria to colonial masters - Buhari style. Buhari is afraid he can't withstand all the forces of "reform Nigeria politically in a democracy or we pull out of Nigeria." Let's see how British leaders shall lead both Britain and Nigeria for Buhari to sustain the unworkable political structure created by soldiers of Buhari clan to politically and financially favour politicians from Buhari northern clan. Can't remember any African country's president-elect officially visiting British Prime Minister - for what? 1 Like |

Mogidi: Obama goes for state visit because he is a sitting president. Buhari has not been sworn in and cannot go on state visit. He is at the moment, an influential Nigerian who was received by Cameron. Wise up. 1 Like 1 Share |
