It's risky. When an inexperienced mon does it, the child can choke to death. Some children will just not eat, all they want is breast, with this, the mother is sure that there is some food in baby's stomach, it may look like torture, but it's done out of love to keep baby alive.

I see this like everyday...some kids this is the only way you can force them to eat..
