this story will never die. One of lil cousins asked me if it ever happened, i told him it's true. I guess he'll learn the truth when he's grown. The one i heard was that Rashidi Yekini scored our only goal after the ball had transformed to a stone and the scar is still on his left foot |

It was a common gist back in the days but it never happened. Indians are more into cricket than football. |

i think is true if it's a lie why is india not playing football, they have a league but they don't play international football not even qualifying |
Re: India Vs Nigeria: 99-1. Abeg Who Watch Am! by semid4lyfe(m): 3:08pm On Sep 27, 2010 |
12large: Google, Ask, Cuil, Altavista and other search engines are there for a reason. Why not take the time to do a little research first before coming here to post rubbish and been confirmed to be a F.O.O.L?. It's particularly pathetic cos the OP of this thread started it as a joke and everyone treated it as such except you. * FYI, India's biggest football victory is a 7-1 defeat of Srilanka in Bangalore, India on December 16, 1963. * India qualified for Brazil 1950 world cup but did not attend. From 1954-1982, India did not enter for the world cup qualifiers. They participated in the qualifiers for 1986-2010 world cups but failed to qualify. * India won the South Asian Football Federation cup as recently as last year (2009). From June-July this year, it's National team was on a training tour of Portugal were it played some Division 2 clubs. * India played two (home & away) friendly matches with Thailand on September 4 & 8 respectively. . .it lost both matches with the 1st leg in Bangkok, Thailand ending 0-1 and the return leg in Delhi, India ending 1-2. They defeated Namibia 2 nil in a friendly on September 15, 2010 in Delhi and they're scheduled to play HongKong and Vietnam on the 4th and 8th of October respectively. * Finally, as I post this, India has qualified for 2011 Asian Cup. . . the Continental Football Championship of Asia Please, don't bother to ask me for the source cos I won't oblige you but be rest assured all I have posted are incontrovertible FACTS. |

Re: India Vs Nigeria: 99-1. Abeg Who Watch Am! by mrtjchrist(m): 12:48am On Jan 30, 2011 |
I personally thimk that there is an element of truth in the story coz if it were not so, since i v been watching soccer, i have actually not seen India participate in any kind - talk of even friendlies let alone qualifiers, the best thing to do is just to ask the players then that the so called story is connected with to be able to establish the real fact. I think Segun Odegbami and the likes still are living on the surface of the earth. this is the best option instead of carrying over this story from generation to generation, shalom! |

Ok yeah, its a dead thread, but da.mn its sooo funny!! I also heard the tale, but in that version the indians were using jazz to transform the football in huge palm-fruits that ''chooked'' the life outta u if u got in its way!! Oh and it was Sam Okwaraji who finally scored for Naija; he had to squeeze his eyes shut to dispell the illusion and delivered a stupendous shot that tore away the net and evrything behind it! |

Nawaoooo! I heard it wen i was vry small in benin city, they say india beat nigeria 99:1, it say any second they want 2 score, d ball turn into snake, lion, fire dis make nigeria run leave d ball. One of goal 4 nigeria was dat he (B. thunda) try 2 kick d ball, his shoe pull out 2 d india keeper, he catch d shoe though it ball, d real ball enter into net. Dis was 99 : 1 |
Re: India Vs Nigeria: 99-1. Abeg Who Watch Am! by novaman: 11:38am On Jun 10, 2012 |
this is to tell you that Nigerians discover black berry a long time ago, we just did not have the technology to complete the creation of BB, I guess someone stole the masterplan. I remember how back then as a child you dare not say its a lie, but till date some men over 40 still believe in the story, I met one of them at the newspaper stand arguing with people saying the match was real like he watched, he went on and on and even when I tried to put him to the fact he simply said "you know nothing, how old are you" and I told him am in my mid 30s, then he said "you see, you know nothing, everyone watched the match back then", they said the match was played in the National stadium. To test the pulse of people I will use a camera phone to record the argument and share it, am sure it will be fun; the news was everywhere even in other past of Africa, some people even contacted FIFA back then to verify the story. The creator deserve an award |
