Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, the new
Kaduna Governor, has promised to do
everything lawful to bring to book
anyone who stole from state ’s account.
Though El- Rufai, insisted on
accountability he said at the same time ,
there was a need to be cautious in the
manner the state would go about
recovering the stolen money in order
not to lose focus on how to generate
millions in the future .
The former FCT Minister, who stated
this at his 2015 inaugural lecture
yesterday in Kaduna, equally promised
the people of the state that his
administration would deliver election
promises , saying he would harnessed
all his efforts and not fail the state
despite inheriting empty treasury .
His words, “I am interested in catching
armed robbers and not pick -pockets .
We must also be careful that we don’t
waste our time trying to chase
N 100, 000, we will chase N 100million
and forget their thousands. We will
make progress by not looking backward
but forward. We will continue to consult
to get it right . ”
“ We are inheriting empty treasury but
like our guest speaker has rightly said ,
that won’ t be an excuse . We can do it
without given excuses. There are
countries that are poorer than Kaduna
state . I promise that I am confidence
there is hand of God in APC both at the
federal and Kaduna state . So God will
help us . We will work hard .”
Earlier , the guest speaker, Professor
Pius Adesanmi , while speaking on the
theme , ‘’Building Rome in a day with
one kobo : El -Rufai and the challenge of
21 st Century Kaduna ”, warned that to
fail people is to fail God despite hard
situation with high expectations from
electorate , citing Lin Qui Yu who used
his personal integrity to move
Singapore from third world to developed
country as case study.
According to the Varsity Don, though
the monies belonging to the state may
have been mismanaged for years,
Kaduna now has priceless intellects to
unleash the potentials of the state
through wealth of experience
