Hi Gazzuzz,
You left a comment on a thread i opened regarding conversion of Toyota Avensis 2000 Auto from RHD to LHD, with a quote of 150K, I would like to know if it is something you can do taking into account the ideal requirements and replacement such as dashboard, steering etc.

Yest it is something I can do. Unfortunately I will not be able to at the moment.

This is awesome, improvisation with logic. Even a layman understands. Thumbs up

GAZZUZZ:
Jaguar S type

Making progress on the job, radiator replaced, spark plugs replaced, injectors serviced.

Cooling fans are set to run direct when the fan is turned on, I tried looking for the factory fan module in the market, but found non so I had to improvise.

Now it's better to use the factory specs but when you can't get it then kazeemy work comes to play.

The main coolant hose from the top to the radiator was cut in 2 and a straight aluminum pipe was fitted in-between, before that I bought a thermostat switch for a camry 98 (lower side radiator) and welded a threading on the aluminum pipe to ensure the thermostat could be screwed firmly, also installed an "O" ring at the base before screwing it to ensure no leaks.

Now the thermostat switch is a closed circuit when coolant is below 90deg and opens when temp is above 90 now that's a problem cause it cannot be fitted into the fan relay straight , so another relay was designed to change the workings of the thermostat to open when above 90 and closed when below 90 (will try and post pics later), wired up tested and works perfect "no more steady fan, and temp is steady at half mark without overheating.

land Rover, range rover LR 320 2006 suspension work.

-Front suspension airbags (baloons grin) damaged
-Worn Brake pads.
-Wrapped brake disks

The brake disks are pretty straight forward, take off wheels, take off brake calipers unscrew 2 bolts fastening brake disk to hub and they are all out in a number of minutes.

For the front air suspensions.

The vehicle came in at lowest heigh level, with a hissing sound (like there was an air leak) it's not uncommon to have a leaking airbag in the front or rear of a RR.

Taking the front airs bags out is pretty straight forward

Place car on stands uncrew 21mm bolt at the base, unscrew 15mm bolts at the top and one 10mm pipe that supplies air pressure

front airbags out time to test them.

That I do is manually pump them up with my air compressor in the office and hold the air in using a thumb. It works great! It is basically blowing up a balloon, only difference is more air pressure required.

If it works well, it will become longer and there would be no leaks.

www.nairaland.com/attachments/3316497_img20160115161547_jpeg8ab08f429ba5274452012f75bb6294e8

One side was really ruptured and could not hold air. www.nairaland.com/attachments/3316498_img20160115123402_jpeg7ca168e84335a279b8251d1680ee8b1b

It failed the test, the other side held air but leaked gradually.

First thing done was to take out the maf sensor and have it cleaned.

Look closely at the pics and you will see 3 filaments (sensors) that detect air movement and a fourth(black in colour) that detects intake air temperature.www.nairaland.com/attachments/3317679_img20160121093038_jpegd0946e21697b54d67ac8e3469612ae64

The knock sensor is located under the intake manifold www.nairaland.com/attachments/3316410_img20160120wa003_jpeg2248c5941686555b65303c5a814450d5

Time to figure out how to drive the big ass truck into the workshop shocked. We trid head first, didn't work, then decided to go in with reverse and it worked www.nairaland.com/attachments/3314610_img20160120105525_jpegc1912f7a02c45cf40e3c51b72438483e

Those are the ugly looking knock sensors.

Next is to test. Basically they give off between 0- 5v output (A.C) when tapped, so it's easy to detect a faulty one.

www.nairaland.com/attachments/3317742_img20160120wa018_jpeg761aee1aaa1e555162270abf0f3fe9d1

Now off to ojuelegba to find parts, hopefully I'll be able to find a brand new OEM part. If not I'll just test a toks one and reinstall.

Re: Remotely Follow Your Vehicle Repairs Online by GAZZUZZ(m): 12:39pm On Jan 21, 2016
funny thing is most part dealers keep calling it an oil switch, been searching for over 2hrs, no one wants to remove a knock sensor from a complete engine.

Searched thru a lot of stores and finally found an evil part dealer that was willing to remove knock sensor from and engine and sell to me.

Tested them and they worked really good.

Good work sir,
Oil switch is the name the parts sellers call them over here in Abuja, and most parts sellers won't even wanna take off a knock sensor from their engine stocks so I either go thru their apprentices or go to engine dismantlers (mbuka) to get them.
