This is grossly unacceptable, our people are suffering, mass unemployment, federal and state government are in huge debts, employee salaries are unpaid, pensioners unattended to, strike in some part of the country and you pay this huge amount to a few percentage of the country? This is so unfair. I hope this country gets enlightened real quick with is their financial recklessness.

that money is much o!
meanwhile the masses are suffering

#3.24Billion!

That is money that would have built us a New Refinery or a Power Plant.

When you see the amount of "corruption-induced waste" in Nigeria, then you will understand why Nigeria does not need anyone's help.

Our Leaders are our worst enemy.

"Severance Pay"? ..... for which company that fold up or laid them off ?

And Pension too?

I thought when you get severance pay, you'll not receive pension? President and Vice will be recieving their huge pensions, so why this severance pay?

They waste money on these rich corrupt people while there are millions of pensioners languishing in poverty due to huge arrears of unpaid pension!

Do you understand what Severance Pay is BTW? The low(NB. nt lowest as you want us to believe) economical strength isn't as a result of #3.2bn TO BE PAID but as a result of Fall in Oil price, high dependence on the oil sector, negligence of the steel sector, WEM etc.

bro, that money is excessive. After what they have done to the masses while still in office.

They never have it in mind that they'll loose the election. Okupe, ffk, Fayoshame & Abati no tell jonny Wetin dey ground before he carry budget go meet senate. For their small mind, there's no vacancy in aso rock grin grin grin

To whom Brain is given, Sense is expected.

Explaining the reason why the severance pay was not captured in this year’s budget, the official (Ministry of Finance) said as of last year when the 2015 budget was being prepared, the outcome of the April 2015 elections could not be ascertained.

He said since the outcome of the elections could not be predicted, there was no way the Budget Office could have determined the number of political office holders that would not be re-elected.

The official added, “You will recall that the 2015 budget was prepared sometime last year and during the budget preparation, the elections had not been held.

“So it would be wrong to include the severance package of political office holders in the budget because as of the time the budget was prepared, these people were still holding political offices.

“Secondly, including their severance package before the elections were conducted would mean that we were pre-empting the outcome of a political process.

“So what we do is to wait for the outcomes of elections and on the strength of this, we can know the number of people that have left office and those re-elected.

“As for those political office holders that are leaving office this year, their severance package would be included in the 2016 budget which would be prepared later in the year.”

Thank God that they are making these things transparent now and public. This is a good thing coming to the country under PMB. I know under GEJ administration no one would have known all these wages and payment. GEJ wasted and mislead this country.
