My Re-election Gave S/east Sense Of Belonging— Dep. Senate President Ekweremadu by davidpokopikin(m): 6:12am On Jun 14, 2015
New Deputy Senate President (DSP), Ike Ekweremadu, yesterday, stated that the decision of majority of the people of South-East to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was a decision they are proud of.
He said that given another opportunity, the people will vote in the same manner.
Speaking on arrival at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, where a mamoth crowd of supporters and political allies gathered to receive him, Ekweremadu stated that he decided to take another shot at the position of Deputy Senate President when it appeared the people of the South-East were about to be sidelined in the new dispensation.

The Deputy Senate President, urged fellow senators and indeed all political office holders to settle down for business to deliver dividends of democracy to Nigerians as days of politics were over.
He advised the APC administration of President Muhamadu Buhari to accommodate all Nigerians irrespective of party and ethnic inclination.
“We have no regret. Igbos have no regret for the way they voted; if they have the opportunity tomorrow, they will do it again. We are convinced we voted rightly, and because we believe we are part and parcel of this country, we believe what we got is within our right. So we expect that APC should be able to accommodate the people of South-South as they form their government, because don’t forget that Buhari got about 15 million votes; we have more than 150 million Nigerians, so he is not the President of 15 million people; the rest of the people must be accommodated,”Ekweremadu said.
“In fact, that was why when we saw that it appears that South-East and South-South were being marginalised in the scheme of things, we decided to take a shot so that our people will be part and parcel of government, so that every part of Nigeria will have a sense of belonging”.

This statement you make is sentimental, tribalistic, jejune, dedune, immoral, disgraceful, embarrassing and it doesnt translates of a man that has Nigeria at heart. ........It is unacceptable.

Jonathan Marginalised South-West with a huge margin, he brought ethnicity politics....almost number 1 to 20 of his 'genuine' cabinet, there was no single South-Westerner there..
Yet, they didnt push for Oduduwa Sovereign State (as the South-Easterners have been pushing for Biafra)....they kept quiet and waited for God's time to bring them to control....NO SOUTH-WESTERNER MADE SUCH TRIBALISTICS COMMENTS::::::::::::::::::but now, you are saying your emergence brought Igbos hope.

Who marginalised them before??undecided??undecided??undecided (2)

So igbos need to have a sense of belonging in the Nigeria government afterall. Taught they wanted only Biafra and they don't need Nigerian government in the south east for anything.

Apart from Ekweremmadus ever fattening bank accounts, I don't know how anybody in the SE benefits from this position.

You said you were being "marginalised"

Was Jonathan not a South-Southerner??undecided

Go to Otuoke and complain to him.

...You said "you felt APC should 'accomodate' SE's and SS's"...

How many APC members were in GEJ's cabinet??undecided

Absolutely NONE!!!

Buhari will not marginalise anybody irrespective of their tribes, religion, or politically. (3)

Congratulations Senator Ike Ekeremadu but I think you should be more concerned with using your office(as Senator) to deliver on your campaign promise to your constituents. You aren't there to occupy space but to work. As for PMB's cabinet, he should do whatever he likes, nobody will beg him. As long as his policies are not aimed at "punishing" us, then we are cool. Ultimately, we set our sight on our own leaders as we watch the President's actions. As a region our development is more inportant than political office of individuals

Congrats sir!

President Michelle of West Germany has jetted out yet again to South Africa this time.

Please sir, tell uncle Saraki that a motion be moved to clip his wings.
