come o, virus gurus, there is a flash drive in my office with a virus in its boot sector!!!

no matter how much u format it, when u pop it in to the pc, the av shows it and cleans it. it copies an autorun into the flash. yet if u scan the system, it does not show up anywhere. that made me realise it must be in the flash boot sector.

how can i remove it?

Re: Best Antivirus To Use by gonkin(m): 12:08pm On Jan 16, 2010
@4llabuntu, its not from ur flash, its in ur pc. An example of malware that does such is 'recycler' and it runs XP- any code if u check processes in ur task manager. Not too dangerous but reduces system stability.

Possible solutions; download 7-zip install and reboot computer in safemode then run 7-zip and at its address bar type in 'c:\windows\system32 and press enter you'll find the malware source file by name xp- 12346 could b any number. If u find this, u can use these tool to clean:

Usb threat defender: quick scans all drives, cleans and also heals and enables programs disabled by malware(download from 4shared.com, dl4all.com) its shareware but u can get full versions from d above links,
Or just run a full scan with kaspersky virus removal tool. Freeware
