No Prize Money For Dolphins . . shocked shocked shocked shocked

http://www.kickoff.com/news/25509/no-prize-money-for-nigeria-league-champions-dolphins-fc.php

Dolphins FC are unlikely to get any prize money for winning the Nigerian Premier League title.

The Nigerian Premier League, without a sponsor, have been running the league on a shoe-string budget, and were forced to borrow from the NFF to prosecute the last four fixtures of the season.

No prize-money was announced at the start of the competition, and none has been paid out for over six years despite previous sponsorship to the tune of nearly N1 billion.

Acting Executive Secretary Tunji Babalola told KickOffNigeria.com that the board will decide what the champions will get.

"The board will have to meet and decide what the prize money will be considering our current situation and the fact that we have to also pay prize money to the winners of the Super Four," he said.

Previous winners like Enyimba, Ocean Boys and Bayelsa United were all told they would get a prize money of N5 million, out of the sponsorship fee of around N900 million paid by Glo.

Only Ocean Boys were paid, back in 2006.

Nah, until next season, MTN was not to pay any sponsor bills. Glo was responsible and didn't pay.

its a shame the way thing are going on in Nigeria, who ever is the league president or chairman they should ensure that we have a very competitive league next season; they can setup a strong technical department specially for the league to be headed by someone that have managed any of the top 10 leagues in the world, so that they can help structure the league to become better and ensure that every month the coaches undergo short courses to help them also; then the players should be encouraged to take evening class for English, Economics and Mathematics, so that they will be usefull for themselves in the future
Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by medjai(m): 9:55pm On Nov 17, 2011
There's controversy over who finished as top scorer.
Jude Aneke of Kaduna United finished with 20 goals but Ibrahim Ajani of Sunshine Stars was also awarded a goal that was hitherto not awarded him which now puts him on 20 goals.
As it stands, we don't know finished top scorer.

we do not need a new thread for next season because this thread was not created for one season either, it's all about our league and until it reaches 100 pages, i don't think we can have a new one.

fresh transfer? well that's kinda hard to follow right now except you can help us out.

the new sponsor is total football which is like a front for mtn, so it's mtn that's the new sponsor now.

nod home the winner for title holders, Dolphins five minutes
from time. The champions start off the season in
fourth place while last
season's runners-up,
Sunshine Stars are 16th after games on the opening day.

Enugu Rangers 0 – 0
Warri Wolves
Goalkeeper Ambrose Vanzekin
and Ike ThankGod put up solid performances to stop Okey Emordi's men from picking all points. The result reflects the same scoreline in this
corresponding fixture last season.

Kwara United 0 – 0 Ocean Boys
Ocean Boys have started the season on a bright note. But
coach Samson Unuanel will have to thank goalkeeper Ospino Egbe for his heroics within the stick against Kwara United in this tie.
Both teams find themselves in the top half after this Day One's goalless draw.

Wikki Tourists 1 – 0 Heartland
Heartland's woes on the road continue after Victor Yakubu's 24th minute goal sealed a happy return for Ladan Bosso as head coach of Wikki.
Heartland are in 14th position after matchday one while Wikki sit in sixth.

Enyimba 2 – 0 ABS FC
Playmaker Josiah Maduabuchi scored the first goal of the season when he put former champions, Enyimba in front in the 1st minute of this game. Nine NNL clubs in trouble
by George Akpayen 19 January 2012, 09:50

Nine Nigeria National League (NNL) sides stand the risk of being thrown out of the 2011/2012 season.

The clubs are Bendel Insurance, Nasarawa United, FC Abuja, Adamawa United, Gateway FC, Juth, Prime FC, Ranchers Bees and Plateau United.

The sides are alleged to owe their players and coaches outstanding salaries and signing-on fees.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has directed the NNL to take appropriate action against the sides before the season kicks off on February 4.

The NFF in its letter to the second tier of the Nigerian league body stated that the nine clubs are yet to comply with the directives of the players' welfare and arbitration committee of the federation.

The NNL secretary, Ayo Rahaman confirmed receipt of the letter from the NFF.

“We have just received a letter from the NFF warning that these clubs should not be allowed to participate in the league unless they settle all their outstanding debt to players and coaches. And we are going to comply with the directives if the affected clubs fail to pay up before February 4th, when the league is expected o kick off,” he stated.

The NFF Players' Welfare and Arbitration Committee passed the decision on the nine clubs since June 7, 2011 to pay up outstanding wages and contract fees of their players and coaches.
