OPEN LETTER TO NIGERIA 8TH NATIONAL
ASSEMBLY.
Humbly, as a concerned citizen, I put forth
this letter to our lords in the Green and the
Red chambers, upon whom our collective
destiny depends for the next 1,460 days.
That they may bear wisdom in, and collect
astuteness from our ailing dear country and
hopelessly suffering country men.
To start with, according to MO Ibrahim
Governance Index as well as that of
Transparency International, Nigeria is one
the worst governed Countries in the world.
The reasons are not farfetched :
7% of world's 1.2 billion poor people are
Nigerians (WorldBank 2014). This,
disgracefully, means that Nigeria is the third
Country with highest number of extremely
poor people in the world, even with the
''largest African economy'' stunt.
Nigeria, with 282.5million dollars Oil sale
daily, yet have 12% of the total number of
hungry children in the world(worldbank
2014). And 58% of hunger problem in the
world. This means that 2 out of every 5
Nigerian children are chronically hungry.
Nigeria has over 80million work force, 70%
of which are unemployed. This means that
Nigeria is among the 5 countries with
highest number of jobless youths (CIA
Factbook, 2015). This no doubt is as well a
function of the reality that there is no
country on earth that did not have Nigerians
in its prisons. Canada alone has over 4,000
female Nigerians in their Prisons (committee
on diaspora matters 2014).
More than 63 million Nigerians dont have
access to clean and drinkable water. As a
consequence, over 97,000 Nigerian children
die every year from diarrhoea caused by
unsafe water (UN, 2014).
Over 4.7 million Nigerian children are not in
Primary school. 30% of Nigerian pupils drop
out of Primary school, only 54% usually go
further to Junior Secondary School. The
percentage keep droping as level of
education goes higher (UNICEF 2014). This
ultimately a function of poor education
system and facilities, as well as economic
hardship.
Nigeria is among the most corrupt countries
in the world, with over 166.3billion dollars
in corrupt practices. An amount that will
permanently solve our Electricity problem,
health care problem, provide millions of
jobs, and secure life and properties.
My lords, these appaling realities above are
some of the reasons our beloved fatherland
find its place among the worst governed
land in the world.
Meanwhile, as these disgusting realities
continue their manifest, past National
Assemblies only care to put tight finger on
the Nation's resources.
Mallam Sanusi Lamido once revealed that
25% of the overhead of National budget
goes to the pocket of the Nigerian
Legislators. This substantiate the fact that
Nigerian legislators are the highest paid in
the world. While the upper chamber earn
240million naira, the lower chamber earn
204 million naira annually. So much amount
collected for doing close to nothing.
Whereas, it will take their counterparts in UK
and US 10years to earn such amounts.
Me and other concerned citizens have read
in the news that National Assembly is about
to gulp some billions of naira for ''wordrobe
allowance'' , meanwhile 18,000 minimum
wage for hardworking civil servants is yet to
be implemented.
That also made us ask : if billions is needed
to cloth you from our depleting treasury
then what exactly are your seven digits
salaries for ? And were you naked during
your campaign to office ?
Wherefore, I so humbly beg you our lords, to
depart from the path of the wasted and
shamful past. Enact capital purnishment for
corrupt practices, and embrace the ends for
which you were elected with passion and
attitude.
But you may stick to the wicked and greedy
path if you can withstand the anger of the
80million Nigerian youths. Bear in mind that
the most dangerous creation of any society
is the man who have nothing to lose.
Steadily, like the growth of Baobab, the
anger of the people will rise. And swift and
terribly like the hurri
a proud Nigerian.

Unless the Daura President implements the agreements of Nigerians at the CONFAB, there will be crisis in Nigeria.

Buhari has said he will dump the CONFAB agreements into the dustbin.

As for me and my own corner of Nigeria, CONFAB approved a 50% derivation principle. What needs to happen now is a guerrilla warfare against oil pipelines, installations and personnel until the agreement is implemented.
