The idea is this..

When you assume office as a new president or governor, the first thing is to blackmail the outgoing president or governor of looting the treasury so it sends the impression to nigerians that there's not enough money to run its operations.

Giving room for personal aggrandisement before national commitment e.g wardrobe allowance etc.

I just hope this govt delivers the change mantra they used in stealing our collective mandate

Think about it. Does you getting your monthly salary mean you have savings and assets?

The government's revenue does not cover recurring expenses anymore since the fall in revenue from oil hence savings has been depletes just to meet recurring expenses to the extent the last government had to borrow to pay salaries.

Danger here is the revenue shared is not enough to save after recurring expenses or even spend on capital expenditure.

I know you may not like buhari, I don't but all this petty abuse is ridiculous and shows how we are not one country.

Seriously, many people on this forum need to go back to school and get quality education.

So, the fact that PMB may have indeed met "virtually empty treasury" now translates to no money to run the country?

Learn to put words into contextual meaning. "Virtually empty" may actually mean far less than what was expected.

And the fact that Nigeria has earned more money every blessed day since May 29 is enough to have money to share again.

he shld hav used anoda word instead of d word empty. Wen u empty a bucket filled wit water wat else remain ?

lumzybo:

It possible he emptied the treasury sinx he knew he was no longer the president. This is a possibility. Not that I believed what PMB said but our politicians always believe in wrecking havoc 4 the incoming government.

This is typical of an ousted politician. GEJ isn't an exception

They need to increase the share given to states to 40%. It is quite over due.

The state governments carry the main burden of development in Nigeria today. FG and LGAs are just waste drain conduits on this country.

Did you read the news at all? The share was the money generated in may, now who generated that, GMB or GEJ?

Ports and other federal revenue centres in lagos were built and maintained by FG, with oil money

Ignorance is bliss indeed, as at the late 70s oil was contributing less than 30% of total National revenue, by that time Lagos was already a great city, so how in your dreams did oil build Lagos?

Was it cocoa money that built the ports and had been maintaining them since then? Shift please. Federal government is only reaping what it sowed in Lagos

On the issue of Federal Government owing salaries, she dismissed the claim, saying that there was no agency nor ministry owed by Federal Government and expressed hope that states owing salaries would pay their workers accordingly after this FAAC meeting.

Interesting to know, APC keep on lying to your confused follwers cheesy cheesy

No nation in the world, no matter how poor she is, that would have an empty treasury. Event GREECE doesnt have empty treasury.

I guess they are all birds of a feather.

So far VAT contributes about 46% of total government earnings and some idiots will be shouting that Lagos( which generates about 80% of the VAT) was built with oyel money. Mad people.

Lagos was once the capital of Nigeria for over 30 years so its quite normal to say that Lagos was built by Nigerians n oil money as well...Just like Abuja now.
