The senators of Like Minds have accused Sahara Reporters, an online news agency of conniving with some Nigerian politicians to orchestrate campaign of calumny against the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

LEADERSHIP claim two of the factional Senators who spoke under the condition of anonymity condemned the recent online media publications on Saraki.

Sahara Reporters released personal documents of the Senate President on social media platforms on Sunday before publishing a new “investigative”, describing Saraki as a “petty thief”.

The Senators said the recent perfectly executed attacks on the character of the Senate President has convinced them that Sahara Reporters was acting the script of a certain politician from the South-West

One of the senators of Like Minds vowed that there was no way the Sahara Reporters will be allowed to get away with such recklessness.

They said they were not surprised that Sahara Reporters “is being partisan since its operators are now physically in Nigeria fraternizing with the political class instead of engaging in investigative journalism that it used to be known for while operating from New York”.

The senators claimed that the online media published a fake document maligning the character of Saraki and even went as far as publishing an unverified bio data page of an International passport allegedly belonging to the Senate President on a social media.

They said that appropriate action is being taken on the matter and all legal avenues will be considered.

Speaking on the development, Bamikole Omishore, the Special Assistant on New Media to the Senate President confirmed that they were aware of the campaign of calumny against their principal from the online media.

Saraki has been at the receiving end of several political analysts and critics after “betraying” his party and its leaders.

Just last month, the Senate President was seen in Ogun state at the home of former president, Olusegun Obasanjo in order to calm frayed nerves within the APC.
