please read the story again. Federal primary and secondary school will continue to be paid by federal government. State primary and secondary school will continue to be funded from the state allocation!

You don't quite understand the situation, the established of staff schools is part of the structure in Nigerian university system. You cannot cut of an arm or part of a man, and still expect him to function normally. Besides 24 staff schools in universities across the country, costing the country 4billion isn't anything, to over 120 staff schools in the armed forces, police and customs, costing almost 200 billion. Or do you want to compare it with the dress allowance to the country's lawmakers

The announcement by the chairman of NSIWC, Chief Richard Egbule, during a press briefing on Wednesday in Abuja came on the heels of threat by the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities to embark on strike if the Federal Government refused to fund the schools which were said to have been established by the institutions.

“I would like to appeal to staff unions not to distract the new government with unnecessary demands. The government has stopped payment of salaries of members of staff in the primary and secondary schools in these tertiary institutions and the decision is final,” he said.

Stating that a decision is final doesn't seem like there was any negotiated agreement.

Yes oh. Unilag for instance. The ISL (International School Lagos) is the secondary school for the staff children and the moneyy dey charge to non-staff children is exorbitant coupled wit what d staff children pay so why can't dey run these schools wit d monies dey collect? Why shd dey collect monies from students and den govt pays salaries to workers? Where den do dey put d monies collected?

Although I think this might be a good direction in cutting cost for the FG. Already the FG have unity schools they are funding so which one be staff sch again. Also it will interest is to know that these staff sch pay high tuition eg UNIBEN staff sec. sch, what does the university do with these money. It's like the university opens an avenue to get revenue for themselves and then ask the FG to pay for labour.
Well things should still be done properly, so that parents, children and staffs shouldn't suffer unnecessarily.
