Nani is a fast winger who made name while playing for English Giants Manchester United from 2007-2014, before he went on season long loan in Sporting Lisbon before leaving finally for Turkish Giants Fenerbahce this season.


Nani was 21 when he was signed by then manager Sir Alex Ferguson for €25 million from Sporting Lisbon in Portugal after the gamble on Christiano Ronaldo worked to perfection from the same club. At a time Nani was once compared to Ronaldo due to their similar playing style. Nani was known for his individual brilliance and dribble, long range shoot and pace. Nani had his best season after the exit of compatriot Ronaldo to Real Madrid in 2009 summer. The next season of 2010/2011, Nani played 31 matches scoring nine goals with 14 assists. It was a reminder to everyone of what Nani could do. He had every attribute of becoming the World Best if only he improved on his decision making. Nani found it difficult to know when to pass, dribble or shoot, at certain times he was overdoing certain things and this was the only problem to his game. That season Nani ended up winning the Players Player of the Season and lost by just one vote to Javier Hernandez of Mexico in the Fans Player of the Season.

Instead of consolidating on his breakthrough season in the next season of 2011/2012, Nani could not improve and found himself on the bench, losing his place on both wings to Anthonio Valencia of Ecuador and English Ashley Young. He never recovered till date and it wasn't surprising that he left for Sporting Lisbon on loan last season before leaving finally this season.

It is only bad to football lovers that Nani ended up as a "Near Man " in the English Premiership and even though he won everything Capital One Cup, Premier League and Champions League, Nani leaves not able to fulfil his early potentials. The English premier league fans will greatly not only miss him but also his acrobatic goal celebrations.
