Fresh facts have emerged on why the Directorate of State Services (DSS) stormed the home of former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col Sambo Dasuki (retd), last Thursday, searched the residence and seized his international passport.

DSS stormed Dasuki’s homes in Abuja and Sokoto. Soldiers guarding his Abuja residence had initially refused the DSS officers entry but the house was searched after all.

The DSS stated that 12 rifles, 12 exotic cars, five of them were bulletproof and some military gears were found in Dasuki’s Abuja home, prompting the intelligence agency’s allegation that Dasuki was allegedly involved in treasonable felony.

Daily Sun gathered that the DSS moved into Dasuki’s home last week following fears that he may leave the country. To prevent this, operatives decided to search his home and seize his passport.

Sources, however, confirmed that the former NSA was planning to travel to the United Kingdom to attend to his father who is hospitalized there. The search was in connection with investigation into the purchase of military equipment in the last four years.

A top security source revealed that the Federal Government decided to look into arms purchase as a result of the briefing of the former service chiefs.

Sources revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari had met with erstwhile Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marsha Alex Badeh; ex-Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Kenneth Minimah; former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin; then Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Amosu; Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, former Chief of Defence Intelligence, Rear Admiral Gabriel Okoi Dasuki for briefing on the fight against insurgents.

At the meeting, the President expressed disappointment over the presentation by some of the former service chiefs on what they had on ground, in terms of equipment, to fight the war.

The President was said to have ordered them to give account of the equipment, arms and other logistics approved by the previous administration for the counter-terrorism war.

Sources revealed that the former service chiefs complained to the President that contract to supply arms were awarded without consultation with them. As a result, they revealed, most of the equipment, were returned since they were not needed at the time of purchase, which generated bad blood between the service chiefs and those who sponsored the contractor.

I have known that there must have been some sinister motives when the former NSA was fighting with the former minister of defence over who should control and disburse funds meant for purchase of military hard ware. Please PMB order a full probe and prosecution. Enough of stealing and impunity by PDP since 1999.
