It was a messy situation on Sunday July 20 2015 as police struggled to stop fighting between two pastors of Assemblies of God church Enugu, Nigeria.

The pastors and their supporters turned Sunday’s service to a fighting bout as each group battled over who should take control of the Parish The latest fisticuffs turned out to be a fall out of the ongoing
leadership crisis rocking the church over who between Rev. Paul Emeka and Rev. Chidi Okoroafor is the authentic General Superintendent of the church.
Crisis of fictionalization of the Assemblies of God Church had been lingering for more than three years.

The two ‘Reverends’, Professor Paul Emeka and Dr. Chidi Okoroafor, have long been laying claims individually to the leadership of the church, a position known as General Superintendent, and a matter that is currently before the Supreme
Court.

Factional Sunday School
According to source, the fighting that took place on Sunday started as early as 7a.m. when supporters
of both pastors arrived and started sharing different versions of the Sunday school manual in preparation for the main service.

The sharing of the two different manuals led to inflamed passions as supporters of the two factions
came close to exchanging blows even before the arrival of their respective pastors. But when the factional pastors arrived, the situation broke down
completely as one of the pastors was seen shoving the other and their members engaged in fisticuffs before police intervened and ordered everybody out of the church.

The drama intensified when one of the pastors, Rev. Nathaniel Udeze, came with letters of posting and
other court documents as part of preparations to be installed as the new pastor at the parish.

He was promptly resisted before onlookers by current resident pastor of the parish, Reverend Amaechi Agbo, who along with his supporters, vowed not to allow Pastor Udeze take over, accusing
him of being an “intruder” Prior to the physical fighting, the matter was in several courts including the Supreme Court to determine the true GS of the
church

Reverend Nathaniel Udeze who came with letters of posting insisted that Rev. Agbo had been transferred to another parish since May 2015. However, Rev Agbo disagreed, insisting that he was still in-charge of the parish as he was yet to be formally written by
Rev. Okoroafor’s leadership of the church, which he recognized.

The fracas at the 27 Mount Street Parish of the church was therefore a demonstration of power tussle between loyalists of the two contending General Superintendents fighting for the soul of the parish considered to be very lucrative.

The messy situation attracted the attention of police officers of Ikirrike Divisional Police, Idaw River Enugu, who stormed the church. After all their frantic
efforts to stop the fight and bring the situation under control through negotiation proved abortive, they immediately ordered the shutting down of the church as a last resort to avoid break down
of law and order.

The police officers cordoned off the church and put it under lock, while the leaders of the two factions were asked to report to police station.

i agree wit d op dat dias discombobulation in assemblies of God church,bt den i doubt if d last pix is true,i mean assemblies of God is one of d churches dat doesnt tolerate wearing of trousers to church by females,hw come one of d ladies on d pix is on trousers?...........any way end time tins,even bible talk am( galatians)men will b lovers of demselves,lover of money,disloyal etc,no wonder its being said dat judgment will start in d house of God
