The British Deputy Chief of Defence Staff on Military Strategy and Operations, Lieutenant General Gordon Messenger gave this assurance when he and other senior British military officers paid courtesy call on the Nigeria Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Gabriel Olonisakin at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.

Lt Gen Messenger stated that the essence of the visit of the senior British officials to Nigeria was to broaden the deep relationship and re-energise the bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and Britain.

He pointed out that they came to Nigeria for deliberations towards identifying the ideal area of collaboration to be adopted in the fight against insurgency and the best way to make it work.

He stressed that the fight against terrorism is a multifaceted problem that demands strategy and careful exploration of grey areas in order to re-appraise the best support the British could offer.

In his remark, the Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Olonisakin thanked the British officials for the visit and the determination of Britain to assist Nigeria.

The CDS acknowledged all the assistance the Nigerian Armed Forces had enjoyed from Britain, especially in term of training and retraining of our personnel for capacity building to crush the Boko Haram insurgents.

Major General Olonisakin noted that the Nigerian Armed Forces is doing everything within its power to liquidate Boko Haram and its cells.

This, the CDS said has received boost with the inauguration of new Multi-National Joint Task Force and the appointment of a Nigerian Commander.

The MNJTF, he reiterated, is coordinating with the Nigerian Military Command and Control Centre in the North East for effectiveness.

INSURGENCY;Cause and Prospect!
When boko haram emerged as a rag tag Small sect in 2002, OBJ's administration out of negligence allowed them to gain some ground in maiduguri at that time and the then governor, Ali modu Sheriff used them to hound his political enemies. After the elections, he had no use of them anymore and as a result, they started becoming ultra radical and recruiting docile youths (almajiri) for institutionalization of sharia law. OBJ's administration saw all this but turned a blind eye since he allowed the sharia law to thrive in their lands, they did not have much altercation. But the sect continued to expand between Yobe, maiduguri, Bauchi,Zamfara and Adamawa.

By the end of OBJ's tenure, seeing that they(Boko haram) may soon become a huge threat to the country's security and peace, President Yar adua's government decided to clamp down hard on them killing over 800 and arresting their leader, Yusuf Mohammed who was later killed extra judicially in Police custody~Things fall Apart

By the end Jonathan tenure, seeing the level of destruction done by Boko haram,he declared war on them, clamp down on the killing of over 1000 and killed their leader,Abubakar shekau in the military engagement~Never Again

At the inception of the Buhari administration,Boko haram re- enforce and cause a lot of havoc. He decided to release over 180 detained Boko haram, engage in Negotiation and finally,Amnesty is imminent!
