[quote author=carnegiefan post=36706788]The last time I checked Nigeria is not fighting a war against a foreign country. Boko Haram for example is a local construct designed by northern interest groups to return power to the north. If the dog no longer listens to his masters whistle calls, the master simply needs to speak to him in the same language they both understand, be it Hausa, Fulfude, or Kanuri.
The civilized countries of the world refused (and rightly so) to sell you weapons because they know you will turn it on the people.
As for Biafra (which is the real reasons you are really thinking about building weapons locally after foreigners turned you down), all they want is freedom. If you cannot give them freedom, be rest assured that you cannot outproduce them if it ever comes to that.
Dialogue saves millions of lives and cash.

My dear God will bless you in a doubles folds.... Thats d simple truth.

Your statement is devoid of any concrete reasoning, it seems you're a bigot like the rest of your ilks on here. Have u ever seen any powerful nation without an homegrown military industrial complex? Must you wait for war before you start preparing? South Africa has not fought any war since the 80's, yet our Armed Forces needed their mercs and weapons to turn the ride against BH, that's just very shameful for the supposed most powerful nation on the continent..

BTW: FCK BIAFRA. We say no to useless borders in Africa.

you can see that after every meeting with the ministries Buhari always leave a road map for them on what he wants them to achieve....this is a man that is goal driven and result oriented. he has plans for every sector on how to make them more viable.....if there where ministers to give him briefs the minsters will be very economical with the information that will be given to the president because he will want to paint the ministries to favour himself....Buhari is gathering first hand information so that any minister he employes can be easily access if his ministry is productive from the moment he or she assumed office or he or she has been playing......find out the problem Sir then select personnel suitable to tackle the problem then you can start monitoring and just sleeping more while the country runs on an auto pilot mode......buhari has plans let wait and see.

Its seems someone in the presidency follows nairaland because this was a suggestion that was mentioned in an earlier thread.

They should also involve our engineering experts, engineering faculties and Nigerians who have experience in weapons manufacturing abroad. If the BH boys can manufacture IED imagine what our own engineers would be capable of doing. That's is how countries like India, South Africa and co became exporters of weaponry.

Also its another way for us to generate revenue if we can sell any surplus weaponry to other countries.

The solution to getting us out of the financial mess we are in is to be self reliant, work with what we have and 'STOP' begging the west!!!! especially when you have nothing to offer!!!!!

The proper way to start weapons production is to have a plan. Just charging all those dumb heads in the ministry of defence to liaise with others to work out a way to produce weapons is not gonna work.
The plan must have a driver and there must be synergy between the public and private sectors.

lolz ur achiac method of thinking is welcomed but u don't wanna tick me off,do you even know what it means and takes to produce arsenals, the finicial requirements, the political cost, the hard lining opposition challenges
if it were so easy ,Iran wouldn't keep spending over $3billion dollars for arms procurement per annum, even when their economy is downsizing, like I said, you don't wanna tick me off
