Truely, this network enlightens, awakens and creates avenue for people of different tribes and works of life to inter-relate.lately,I have come to understand that it creates more problems than it solves.this I believe wasn't the aim of it's programmer ,but unfortunately it has turned out to be so;this I believe is as a result of tribal segregation, religion and polity.I can still remember the ecstacy with which I joined this forum, having heard so much about nairaland,it's educative and socialistic nature I took no second thought in my pursuit to be a member....some Nairalanders have made it a point of duty to cling to any slightest opportunity given to them to completly degrade,lavish,destroy,black-paint and bring to knot a tribe either because of hate, fun or ego.this I believe have disastrous side effects which may or may not be in existence.this activities has soured so much so that it spranks tribalistic behaviours among us all,pls I plead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!if you've given credence to reading my write-up to this level, try and make POSITIVE AMENDMENTS if your one of those spreading this gospel of hatred cos it will take us to nowhere.....furthermore,no man knows when and how his end will come, shun hatred, envy and all ungodly attitudes...the bibles likens HATERS to MURDERERS and am sure as a christiam or as a muslim ,we all know it's reward.i hold my peace here, thank you for giving me your audience.

Tribal punches are not limited to nairaland forum. It spreads across other forums . It is a big problem that had eaten deep into our system, to the point that it' s already affecting our physical relationship with other tribes.

This is even more prevalent among the youths undecided

May God help us.

When you have certain people use the media to spread falsehood, propaganda and hate messages for many decades, denigrating certain tribes with a view to continually shortchange the tribes and make themselves feel good, that is the result you get many years down the line. Easy access to online media fuelled the hatred the more and more people who never knew such evil ever existed caught the fire. And it will take close to eternity to reverse the trend.

OP God bless you, this is what I have been preaching here for people to ditch tribalism because it bring about hate and negative attitudes towards one another.

I hate tribalism, I joined NL as a pragmatic member and thank God that tribalim and ethnicism are yet to take a grip on me.

I hate tribalists as much as I hate tribalism.

charity begins at home, don't keep your fingers crossed and wait for those at the head to address certain issues before you strike a postive move towards that same angle...do the ones you can ,and leave the rest to future, thank you!

It is a problem, a huge one. I have had so many encounters with these barbarians, cutting across all tribes.

Generalisation is the fuel to this tribal superiority fire. People should deal with one another on a personal level, and stop dragging tribal sentiments into every argument.

Like the OP said, some people actually do it for fun, but na from clap dance dey take start.

For our own good, let's sanitize the cyberspace, starting from Nairaland.

The only hope for Nigeria is true federalism.

Let every tribe/ region develop at its pace. Some tribes are very comfortable with the horrible status quo and would do anything to remain in same shit including sucking up to others who consider them slaves.

Lies from a mischievous a.boki! Let me put the record straight and place you where you rightly belong.

The Hausa-Fulani perverts hiding under the camouflage of religion have over the century propagated despicable, hate speeches in their mosques and have engaged in the unconscionable, cold-hearted waste of human lives and reckless destruction of means of livelihoods in their territory and middle-belt.

Northern leaders facilitated and destroyed the economy of this contraption and have made it extremely difficult for it to forge ahead and make reasonable progress!

Inspite of the great unbridled stealing and embezzlement of the common wealth by the greedy, arrogant and devilish Northern leaders the lives of their people are as good as worthless and miserable. Go to the streets and see the multitude of their kinsmen wallowing in squalor at the mercy of hunger, terrible and strange diseases, and abject poverty begging Igbos for their daily meals.

YORUBAS ARE THE PROBLEM WITH NIGERIA - By Sanusi Lamido
In sum, the Yoruba political leadership, as mentioned by Balarabe Musa, has shown itself over the years to be incapable of rising above narrow tribal interests and reciprocating goodwill from other sections of the country by treating other groups with respect. Practically every crisis in Nigeria since independence has its roots in this attitude.
   * The Yoruba elite and area-boy politics;
    * Igbo marginalisation and the responsible limits of retribution; and
    * The Yoruba Factor and "Area-boy" Politics.
My views on the Yoruba political leadership have been thoroughly articulated in some of my writings, prime among which was " Afenifere: Syllabus of Errors" published by This Day (The Sunday Newspaper) on Sept 27, 1998. There was also an earlier publication in the weekly Trust entitled " The Igbo, the Yoruba and History" (Aug. 21, 1998)...
Being Excerpts from A Paper Presented At The “National Conference On The 1999 Constitution” Jointly Organised By The Network For Justice And The Vision Trust Foundation, At The Arewa House, Kaduna From 11th –12th September, 1999.
