ISLAM is never a problem but blessing to humanity. The problem of the North is their elites and its should never be blamed on ISLAM. There is no where ISLAM support illiteracy, their leaders just blind folded their gullible followers for their own personal gain. ISLAM simply means PEACE which the hausas are doing negative to that. I will not want to drag too much but I just want to correct your notion that ISLAM embraces illiteracy. Prophet Mohammad in his words make it compulsory for every Muslims male/female to acquire knowledge, he never said religious knowledge, he said every knowledge that will move your society/ country forward in a positive manner. He even went ahead to compulsory muslims in his lifetime to travel to SHIN which is modern day CHINA to seek for knowledge.

Sanchez01:

I apologize for saying this but the problem of the North is "Islam". This is not a direct attempt to rubbish the religion but the fact that Western education could threaten the belief and practice of the religion has left almost every part of the North in perpetual darkness. The few educated ones among them are hindering others from being educated. They would rather prefer to have them live as peasants.

Ever wondered why there are no Northern innovators? Truth is, there may never be because the Northern powers that be prefer that others serve them rather than serve themselves.

Religion and lack of western education seems to be the problem.

Guy, are you high? ? You are presenting 2007 figures, while I gave you the most recent official figures that thrashes yours, yet you are still arguing blindly. Look, Anambra should first outperform Imo and Enugu before even thinking of competing with Ogun. Gosh! You people are impossible. Smh.

Most of the things on page 1 are not new facts. they are already well known. Infact, sone are common sense. The areas that produce and engage in: Cocoa production, Coal production, Cattle, Pepper, Tomatoes, Cotton, Groundnut, Oil Palm, bitumen, Iron ore Etc....

I tink d govt need to make agriculture attractive, put some measure in place to maintain d agriculture produce and management of it...
I know this is where this thread will land us grin grin grin..SMH.....Then the North and S west should face their Agriculture undecided undecided undecided

WHERE IS THIS. EBONYI STATE.

Ebonyi state na minus 1 to Nigeria

No bad news and no good news from that state
Re: Nigerian States And What They Produce by Noneroone(m): 8:16am On Aug 13, 2015
@ lalasticlala, this thread should be taken off frontpage
it is fraught with deliberate misinformation, manipulation of maps and data and ethnic bias and misrepresentation of facts.

This could prove harmful to research in future.

Cement production, Nigeria

Nigeria is the largest cement producer in Africa, and Ogun state has the largest concentration of limestone deposits in Nigeria especially in and around Ewekoro and Ibeshe, more than 50% the metric tonnes of cement produced locally in Nigeria, comes from Ogun . Today, Ogun state is the new Cement Capital of Africa, producing the same amount of Cement as South Africa, the continent's second largest economy. Other important producing states are: Kogi state around Obajana, Edo state around Akoko Edo - Okpella, Cross river state around Mfamosing, and to a lesser extent Nkalagu in Enugu state and Ashaka in Gombe state

COCOA PRODUCTION, NIGERIA
Although cocoa is mostly grown in fourteen of the
Thirty-six Nigerian States, the main producing
states (aside from Cross River, in the South
East) are located in the South West of the
country, which is the highest Cocoa producing
region (80%), with most production areas located
in: Ekiti, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Edo
the highest producing states in the country are :
Ondo, Osun, Cross River, Ekiti, Oyo, Edo, Ogun

Always read and edit your post before uploading, Cross Rivers is not in the south east but in the south south.

I don't exactly understand what this thread is supposed to prove.

Agriculture is not as lucrative as education or trading, atleast currently,an Igbo man doesn't play lose game, if agriculture becomes lucrative, be sure. Ndiigbo will be the leaders there too. We make our money and buy whatever food we need from the farmers, you don't sell it free to us, infact as a matter of us, you need us( buyers) more than we need you( sellers). In Biafra, we can always import the food we need from Cameroon, Gabon, etc. Or we can decide to grow them.

Odua-Arewa farmers will have to compete with Cameroun, Gabon and Equatorial farmers for our food market.

Having said that, Igboland still produce most of our staple crops on our own. Cassava, Palm oil, Yam, pepper( Ose Nsukka), ingredients for Igbo soups, etc. I am yet to hear of any single food consumed in the East that is being imported from Yorubaland.

Things we import from the North mostly are Yams, to complement Ogbaru yams that are seasonal( I bet a Biafran government can make production from Ogbaru all year round), tomatoes( which again can be grown in the East, we use to grow tomatoes in our farm those days), onions and beans.
We don't import anything from Yorubaland.

Intresting read..but OP cnt you jst remove some 'unnecessary comments'...Intellectuals are the worst peddlers with Tribalism. the North are doing very well agriculturally, in their own right..we bless God for that. The SW, are doing good too...God be praised; The SE, and SS are doing very well too, in their own right,..We bless God for that. Please lets stop killing ourselves on earth, over these things. there's more to life, than being 'The first/leading tribe'...I doubt if it even counts in the after-life/eternity!!! God bless the North, West, East(where am frm), South...God bless us all.
