The President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, has said that Nigeria does not owe foreign nationals who fall victim to fraudsters an apology.Mark spoke on Wednesday while receiving an economic delegation from Ireland. The team was led by the country’s Minister of Integration, Mr. Conor Lenihan.

A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Paul Mumeh, quoted Mark as saying that “I have no apology for victims of 419.

“If somebody ask you to bring, say $200, 000 in order to get $20m in return without investing anything concrete or rendering valuable services and you go ahead to do so, if you are ripped off in the process, you should blame yourself and not the system.”

He got it spot on. Its high time these people stopped playing the victim when they obviously want to reao where they do not sow.

In his position as the senate president, he has to be careful not make his personal statements the official Nigerian position on this 419 issue.

They always call Nigerians cuz the media is in thier control and again nobody speaks out against them(Oyibos). You are talking of email you receive on daily basis, what about the once you receive from oyibos about online biz that we all know as scam. What of this online pharm store advertising viagra and all sort of fake drugs? are they from Nigerians as well.
Yes 419 is not good and can be stopped by prosecuting both parties concerned. Once they know they can be prosecuted if the deal goes sour they will think twice to venture in it.

Anywaz, both the scammers and the ones being scammed are both to be blamed. But sometimes, the scammers preys on the "goodness" of the people. . . .not necessarily on inheritance. Could be asking for donation for sick children etc etc.
