US pledges to support the ongoing reforms and not "endorses"

Besides, the important thing is for Nigerians to support and endorse it. Not bothered about USA or any other external endorsement.

I have confidence in the ability of this man to transform NNPC,to a world class oil corporation.
Re: US Endorses Ongoing NNPC Reforms by laudate: 5:05pm On Aug 20, 2015
And what does that 'support' mean in actual terms for NNPC or our country?? undecided

They have already stopped buying our oil for a long time now. So they should clarify in clear terms, what kind of 'support' they are now offering.

People are tired of meaningless gestures! sad

You can't support what you don't approve. The strategic importance of USA to global energy demand cannot be over emphasized. we will drink our oil without the USA's patronage.
Thanks.

US stopped buying our oil since last year, because of their greater focus on shale oil. So exactly which kind of 'support' are they offering to us now?

Can you let us know?

What has been their patronage the past one year?
And, did the fact that our NNPC has been in bad shape all these years stop them from buying our crude?

Shale gas was a scam, cost for crude oil production through fracking is not sustainable, USA knows this but used it as a viable excuse to punish Nigeria for several reasons beyond my knowledge

I don't agree. Do you have facts, figures and data to support this assertion?

Secondly, USA has not bought crude from Nigeria for over a year. They have been sourcing it from elsewhere. So what makes you think they would leave their present suppliers and turn towards Nigeria?

There are many reasons USA played the politics of oil with Nigeria. Why do you require the op to educate you on the politics of shale gas. Even if you are lacking in knowledge, Google has made knowledge a common commodity.

When people lack relevant facts to support their comments, they play the Google card. If you use the search engine, then it throws up thousands of entries that may not even be directly connected to the subject at hand.

The OP has made an assertion. The onus is on him to support that assertion with verifiable facts. Playing the Google card is a stale tactic. undecided

Change is here, it is only going to be a while but your cynic views about Nigeria America relationship will be put to rest.

My views are based on reality, and not cynicism. sad Any country looking towards America for salvation of its economy or territory, is bound to fail. America's current interest is just to protect US investments within the country, such as Mobil and Chevron. Under Diezani, Shell had the upper hand in the upstream sector, because of its' close ties with her.

Now that an ex-Mobil staff is in the saddle, they want to ensure that their oil firms are given more favourable concessions, than they had before under the previous administration. undecided

There are no permanent friends, there are only permanent interests in international politics. America is only governed by its own self-interest.

The sooner we learn that, the better for us.

If the US endorses it you better know they consider the reforms to be in their favour more than Nigeria's.

Guy You sound like you have the technical and managerial know how .on how Nigeria can produce our oil without US assistance.i bet you we can't do it on our own.asians are not even better off to assist us.my take is along as the pay all taxes and royaties due to us then it is fine .no matter who gets to drill it.our problem is not US drilling or exploring our oil.
but we utilizing our on proceeds properly.lets stop this blame games.even if you give Nigeria 100years we can not produce our oil 100% using local knowndelege.

That is so untrue. We can do it on our own. Small independent oil exploration companies like Amni International started producing their own crude in the Niger Delta, with 100% indigenous local engineers after they fired their foreign partners almost 10 years ago. They are still in operation till today, even as we speak.

Oil production is not the sole preserve of America. Is India, Russia, China, Venezuela, Norway etc not producing oil and gas, even as we speak?? What proportion of their local drilling and production crews are American? shocked shocked

Read up on Sinopec, the owners of Addax Petroleum and find out about their exploits, when it comes to oil production. Your impression about the Asians, is far from the truth. Some of the best set of drilling equipment used around the world, are fabricated in Asia. Ask the Japanese about oil exploration equipment. You will be shocked at their level of technical knowledge.
