The seemingly constant political bickering in Ekiti state has taken a new dimension as a former factional speaker of the state House of Assembly, Dele Olugbemi, has warned Governor Ayo Fayose over his relationship with other politicians.

Olugbemi warned Fayose that he should stop using what he called, “use-and-dump tactics” as one of his styles in politicking, while listing some of the politicians he claimed Fayose has dumped, like the former president, Olusegun Obasanjo; the former Osun state governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola; Senator Iyiola Omisore; the former Ekiti assembly speaker, Femi Bamisile; the former Ekiti PDP secretary, Tope Aluko; and House of Assembly candidate, Odunayo Talabi.

Olugbemi has been in the news for sometime in the state after he turned down an appointment by Fayose as a member of the state’s House of Assembly service commission last week.

He had expressed dismay that Fayose did not appreciate the sacrifices he made to make sure he returned to power, The Nation reports.

Comparing Fayose with his predecessor, Kayode Fayemi, Olugbemi said that having worked with both politicians as a legislator, he declared that the two of them are incomparable saying, “the worst of Fayemi is better than the best of Fayose.”

He also gave reasons for rejecting the appointment, saying his decision was based on principle and to send a message to the governor that “the era of sole administratorship has become outlandish and democratic ethos must be imbibed in the running of government.”

Olugbemi spoke to reporters on Saturday following the controversy that his rejection of the governor’s appointment generated in the state.

He also vowed to henceforth challenge what he called “any undemocratic tendency of Fayose through strong and constructive engagement.”

Last week, Fayose claimed that Fayemi betrayed his party, the All Progressives Congress and its national leader, Bola Tinubu, who helped him to power.
