I have in the past years, carried out a careful review of the current Nigerian Citizens’ Data Capturing process and procedure, as established
under the past government’s administration, and to this end embarked on a number of research exercises. My findings have proven beyond all doubts that the current environment of multiple bio-metrics data capturing in Nigeria, is most pathetic and totally unacceptable to the Nigerian public. The reason being that what we have currently is a multiplicity of bio-metric data capturing of Nigerian citizens by
a multitude of Federal Government agencies, causing a grave burden on the Nigerian citizens.
There is therefore an urgent need to review this unfavorable situation, which should not be allowed to linger on by, and under, the President Buhari Administration. Nigerians wish and yearn to see in its place, the introduction of a well-structured mechanism, process and procedure that secures an all-in-none, and one-stop capturing of citizens’ bio-metric or other data, addressing and providing for the following purposes:
Citizens’ Identity: Information.
Citizenship/Residence/Immigration Status.
Country’s General Statistics—Population/Unemployment Index.
Citizens’ Social Benefit: Specific Welfare & Well-being Benefits.
Citizens’ Rights & Privileges, including Voting Rights.
Citizens’ General Records of Public Interests.
National Security Matters.
