While the Presidency and other stakeholders are redoubling efforts to crush the five-year Boko Haram insurgency in the North East, not much attention has been paid by the authorities to the unending loss of life and property in the North Central zone, brought about by the activities of suspected Fulani herdsmen. No week passes without news of clashes between cattle herdsmen and native farmers over farming and grazing land. Many people have been killed, tortured and raped, with entire communities razed and thousands rendered homeless. In essence, what is taking place in the geopolitical zone is a low intensity war in which the combatants employ all stealthy methods to ambush and eliminate their opponents.
