Alexpissu: Undoubtedly, JigsawKillah remains one of the best poets this forum can boast of. Infact, he'd effortlessly get a place in 'my best 5', for he has the very rare ability of passing his messages across with the most simple, yet the most striking of words. That was the same thing I found charming about Charles Bukwoski. Infact, to give Jigs a nickname like 'NL's Bukwoski' wouldn't really be a bad idea... One thing still baffles me though, and that is the complexity of his rap verses. While he is being revered for possessing poetry verses that are simple, yet striking, I've always had a hard time trying to figure out what his rap bars mean. His, is a personality that really baffles me. llaykorn, I totally agree with you ...Maybe, your younger bro has been misled by the media.Well, Lupe Fiasco comes to me as rapper that gives me headache sometimes trying to understand .What is your take on Nas and Lupe Fiasco ? I haven't really listened to works by any of those. Will you recommend some really good ones from them? 1 Like |

llaykorn:Rule 21 covers that. Besides, I listen to Immortal Technique, Dance with the devil, men it is intense!!! I love em already. What got my attention was where they said only a hard core man can stab a man continuously and stand and watch the life depart outta the man. I wrote about the same thing in my previous poem "A bloody murder". "There I stabbed and thus he cried Praying for the pain to ebb away Here I watched and thus I stared, Selfishly seeing the live ebb out of him". Anyway Dr Dre sang something similar with Snoop, Little Ghetto Boy was the title. Honestly bro, I really don't think your kid bro should be listening to songs like Dance With The Devil". |

Jospeh1832, whitemosquito's flash fiction challenge had an opening for people who wanted to submit their entries in Pidgin English. Pidgin English is an independent language, and I believe it should be treated as such. 1 Like |

llaykorn:Of course I do!. Eminem is one of my favorite rappers. Besides Kim, you should listen Eminem's Amityville featuring Bizarre of D12, men that song cracked my ribs like crazy! Even Under the Influence with D12 is okay. This is Bizarre's line: "I bleeped my cousin in his asshole, slit my mother's throat (AH!) Guess who Slim Shady just signed to Interscope? My little sister's birthday, she'll remember me For a gift I had ten of my boys take her virginity (Mmm mm mmm!) And bitches know me as a Hot ass freak Their mother wasn't raped, I ate her pussy while she was 'sleep Pissy-drunk, throwing up in the urinal (YOU FUCKING HOMO!) That's what I said at my dad's funeral" That dude Bizarre is sick! But it cracked me up still. My then ex hated me for liking the song, but then she never did have a sense of humor. LMFAO!!!. |

Re: Might I Woo Thee? by llaykorn: 11:15pm On Sep 10, 2015 |
joseph1832: Heheh. I deleted Kim after curiosity pushed me to download it. I just couldn't understand why so much sadism had to be nailed into a single song. I hated myself for listening to that song. |

llaykorn: I rarely do visit this poetry and literature section . Well, I would say that "JigsawKillah" brings this realness of a street dude personality into his rap . I haven't seen his "poetry drops" , can't say much about him be Bukwoski . If he has to take rap as a profession in Nigeria , he will tune down his lyrics because you can't sell violence ....NBC will be up on you like good morning. Rapping this days is not about your killer bars ....I think is more of your personality and how you connect to the street . Why do you think the likes of Olamide , Phyno and Fals still relevant . Olamide, is the voice of the street ...he infuses the street slang into his raps and that alone can get the area boys to burst their speakers. Phyno , brought personality ,also been a producer gives him an edge ...Fals, reminds me of 2shots in his early days with his comic raps pattern . Lupe Fiasco : Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free) Haile Selassie Nas , everybody around you knows him Last Words No Idea's Original Can't Forget About You You will like them both since you are a lover of poetry and storytelling . Nas, is one of Hip-Hop best storyteller . JigsawKillah: Always, respect the legend NAS. JigsawKillah, you don't have to strive to be like me ....BE YOU so people can make a definition of YOU. I learn from everybody , we all RAP ourselves. This your pidgin English poetry na die oooo ....u better comot am before Naija rappers go rap am . nice one |

llaykorn:LOL. if you want to listen to something cool, a rap song with technicolor type A rhyme scheme, then listen to DJ Honda featuring Jeru The Damaja, El Presidente is the title and the fact that he capitalized on Fidel Castro make me love the song so much. No blood, no hate, no vile, no beef, just pure rap with a magnificent amount of Similes and Metaphors. That song is testament to the fact that Rap is Poetry. That's why I see all rappers as poets same way all poets are rappers. Listen to the song bro, you'll enjoy it. |
